5 comments about The Lovebird: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet.
- The title says it all. One can do better w/ Appleyard's book.
- A visit to my local library yielded many books about breeding lovebirds, with little focus on the pet owner who wished to keep a single lovebird just as a pet. This book was a lifesaver! It was thorough, as well as fun and simple to read. I am buying the Cockatiel book in the same series for a friend who owns one because this book impressed me so much!
- If you're getting a lovebird or 2 for a pet this is a great book. It goes over feeding, health, and all the other things a bird would need. It doesnt talk about breeding though. It goes over the different species which is nice.. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because it didn't talk about breeding. But as a pet book, it should be 5 starts :)
- Do not purchase a Lovebird until you read this book! This book is filled with important information. There is so much that I would have been completely ignorant to if I had not purchased this book. It helped my find the right cage, told me about dangerous toys, first aid, different species, etc. This book contains everything, if you only want to buy one book on lovebirds, make it this one. This book talks about things you would never think of, it is truly a wonderful and informative book. You can tell that the author loves lovebirds, and cares for their well-being. I am so impressed with this book, that if I decide to get another bird one day, I will turn to the same collection. I am looking forward to the arrival of my first baby lovebird, and because of this book, I feel confident and at ease that I can provide a safe and loving home for my bird.
- I was extremely nervous interacting with my new lovebird. Reading this book was easy and highly enjoyable, it was almost like talking with an old friend. I'm much more aware of the needs of my lovebird and have a much more enjoyable time.

1 comments about Breeding Society Finches.
- This is an older book that I found in my local library. I went on Amazon to purchase this book because it had a lot of good tips on how to breed and care specificly for society finch. All the other books that I have read had to do with Zebra finches. It is a small handbook, but well written for starters. Although the photos were taken of only one clutch, there were many photos throughout the book to show the growth of the babies. I would recommend this book if you enjoy raising society finches. I still take this book out from time to time to re-read it. (I love breeding society finches!...wish there were more books about them.)

5 comments about Conures: Everything About Purchase, Housing, Care, Nutrition, Breeding, and Diseases (Complete Pet Owner's Manual).
- This book is to helpful in your curiosity about the kinds of conures there are & how to house them but hardly any info. is given on how to understand they're personality or on their habits & how to explore them further.
- This book is a good source for those who are looking for information on basic care and breeding of conures. However, it gives little information on keeping Conures as pets. There are almost no training tips given.
- This is not of great value to the average companion bird owner. It is geared mainly to the individual interested in breeding and setting up a breeding avaiary. There is very scant info on personality and characteristics. As most info is for breeding purposes, all cage and care requirements are written for at least 2 birds. Almost all info is provided concerning wild caught, or nearly adult-parent reared offspring. As it is so easy to locate a good breeder that hand rears young, this is of little use. This book did not meet my needs, but would be useful to a perspective breeder of Sun Conures.
- This book is great for those who have just purchased their new conure. There are beautiful illustrations and many colored photos. But the book is mostly about breeding and it contained words that weren't really clear. It should have had more tips on training the bird. But other than those, i would say that it would be a good book to buy.
- I am a pet bird owner looking for info about behavior specfic to conures. I felt this book was primarily adressing those who want to get into breeding of birds. The photos were excellent. I have a green eyed conure, she is delightful and while green, the edges of her feathers are rimmed with a lighter green. She is beautiful and personable, contrary to the book's opinion of this type of conure.
