1 comments about Homoeopathic Treatment for Birds.
- The short case histories reported by the author (who gathered a vast experience working for a wild birds rescue center) are so well written that they result moving and inspiring in themselves, beside a tool for understanding how holistic principles apply to dramatic emergencies. These examples say a lot about homeopathy, much more than any theory ever will. Many birds that would have been considered in desperate conditions for the usual vet practise, recovered completely. Make you think, and leave you wanting to learn more. No matter if you are an avid wild bird-watcher or a lover of cage softbills and parrots, it's likely that you'll read it two or three times, and reflect a lot about it. And will be more ready to face some possible bad incidents or diseases of your feathered friends, or of sick wild birds you happen to find.

2 comments about The Emu Farmer's Handbook, Vol. 1.
- We were given a pair of Emus and needed an on hand resorce for keeping them healthy and happy. This is a great source of info covering everything from anatomy, to pen requirements, breeding and slaughter. I am very pleased with the purchase, well worth the money. The only thing it could add is about handleing...our male Emu kicks both to the front and backwards. They do not like dogs a bit and will try to attack an animal near the fenceline. ...Be careful around them and they are no problem at all.
- This book is an excellent source of information needed to learn more about emu. Not technical. Very down to earth writing, giving you information from collecting and incubating eggs, to slaughtering. Discusses sickness in the birds and various diseases. Also discusses different housing and fencing needs for the birds.

1 comments about Bantams and How To Keep Them (Poultry Series - Chickens) (Poultry Series - Chickens).
- C. A. House originally published this book in the 1920's, having a half-century of solid experience under his belt. Paraphrasing his words, "I had my first big win ... at the Dairy Show of 1890." The original price of this book was "One Shilling and Sixpence" which is retained on the authentically reproduced cover.
I couldn't resist buying this one, and I'm very glad I did so. House wrote about what he knew from his own successes and failures as a breeder, fancier, and exhibitor. The nineteenth-century prose is elegant and parsimonious. No more could be said on this subject in more or fewer pages. House clearly stated when his opinions were injected into the otherwise factual text. House was not a man of secrets: rather he was a man who promoted the keeping of Bantam chickens more than he loved his own accomplishments. He would be delighted, I think, to know that his work remains meaningful into the 21st Century.
The small size of this book can be deceiving if modern patterns of verbosity are generalized to the past. House wrote no more than necessary to convey his thoughts accurately and skillfully. In fewer than 120 pages, C. A. House has given the reader more useful, accurate information than can be found in many any of the larger books on the subject. Though his title and subjects are Bantams, keepers of large fowl will find this work nearly as helpful. I find it a welcome addition to my family library, and it will be read over and over in the years to come. I can think of no higher praise for a book on this subject. I don't know the exchange rate for "One Shilling and Sixpence" into 2006 American Dollars, but it's worth every penny.

2 comments about The Art Of Cockfighting - A Handbook For Beginners And Old Timers.
- i would have made a video review to show how "Get errr done!" this book was but out of respect for them PETA, i withheld my excitement. Great book and i recommend it to anyone that is involved with wrestling or cockfighting..so on and so fourth. I originially bought it for grandma but she can get my next order for it.
- Why is Amazon selling books that teach animal torture? Are they that greedy?
This is only one title that teaches cockfighting or dogfighting.
Sick, sick, sick.

1 comments about The Proper Care of Budgies.
- The PROPER CARE OF BUDGIES is a thick (250+pp), hardcover book that covers all the basics of pet care and a good deal about breeding parakeets or Budgerigars. In a section on cages and aviaries, Author Dennis Kelsey Wood has included many designs for outdoor aviaries and nest boxes, as well as commercial cages. He covers breeding considerations and genetics in another section. This is not the best book to give your child for reading about his new pet Budgie, although it does include numerous photographs of featherless baby chicks that may be of interest to the curious child.
Most of the photographs are interesting and most of the text reflects good common sense. For example, how many folks need to be told to "make sure your cage is large enough to accommodate your Budgies favorite toys"? On the other hand, most of us will never "show" our Budgies at an exhibition either. Two short chapters in the back of the book "The Pet Budgerigar" and "Maintaining Health" cover what most of us want to know. If your keeping Budgies as pets, you will do better to buy The Owner's Guide to THE BUDGIE, by Julie Rach.

1 comments about Lovebirds (Animal Planet Pet Care Library).
- The first sentence in this book by Julie Mancini is "Welcome to the exciting and fun-filled world of lovebird ownership!" The book starts off with some great information about these entertaining little birds.
The author explains the history of lovebirds - how they got their name - when they first became pets - the wild or normal colours and the newer colour mutations - and talks about the different lovebird species.
I would recommend this book to new and potential lovebird owners, although experienced lovebird owners may also find useful advice as well.
