1. This book contains a wide variety of topics on emus, but does not give enough useful detailed information. It is too generalized and seems afraid to mention actual brand names of feed and equipment.This is not a book for those looking for a step-by-step, detailed "how-to" reference guide.



2. This is a thorough treatment on a hard-to-find subject. The book covers all aspects of raising emus, including: housing, health, breeding, incubation, raising chicks, and marketing emu products. The author, Maria Minnaar, has been raising emus commercially since the mid-1980s. This book is aimed at the commercial emu farmer, with detailed information on veterinary care, breeding, meat cuts and emu oil processing. The author provides one chapter on raising Ostrich and Rhea, highlighting the differences between these birds and emus. There is an interesting section covering other ratites, the Cassowary, Kiwi, Moa and Elephant Bird, and a good bibliography of ratite information sources. The drawings and photographs are high-quality.

1. This is a super little book. Perfect for young kids as an intro to having a pet parakeet (and the mom learned some new things too!). It's written in first person, so the parakeet talks about himself and what it needs to be well cared for. There'a also a sense of humor written into the text, my 5 and seven year olds were cracking up when the narrator bird talked about it being a bit rude to look at its vent. but that it would be ok with him for the sake of checking his health. Great photographs with little bubbles showing what the parakeet is thinking. Highly recommended for any family with children deciding on getting a parakeet for a pet.

1. The Pet Parrott Book is a colorful, extremely well-written, and kind treatment,offering both novice and experienced parrott companions thoughtful advice. Highly recommended.



2. Dr. Snyder's book is both informational and fun! His writing style makes it easy to read and understand for the layman. I would strongly suggest this book for both new and potential parrot owners as a great foundation for their future parrot libraries!

1. While there are several books available for the more popular lizards--i.e. iguanas, bearded dragons, geckoes, et al. information on spiny lizards is harder to come by. As a fence lizard keeper I found this book invaluable in setting up the proper environment and getting up to speed on the feeding and care of my lizard. Clearly written with great photos of the different species.
