5 comments about Step by Step Book About Training Cockatiels (Step-By-Step Book About Series).

  1. Received book and it helped with some of the basics...My Cockatiel is still in training.....

  2. only a person who does not know a lot about their bird would need this

  3. how can we view the bokwitout buying it ,,,write back

  4. I was really hoping for a book that would provide me with insights into training cockatiels in particular. I was sorely disappointed. Though the book does provide a lot of good, solid, but very general information, a much better book on training parrots is "The New Parrot Training Handbook" by Jennifer Hubbard

  5. If your a new bird owner this book is for you. It teaches you how and where to train your bird. It also gives you step by step instructions on how to train the bird and the length of time it would take to do it. I would recommend this book to anyone.

  1. Photographs are good. very few speices of doves are discussed. there should be more emphasis on new mututations of doves.there is always confusion between pigeon and doves and this book also does not clear the confusion.

3 comments about A Rage for Falcons.

  1. When I first became interested in falconry, I, like most people, wanted to learn everything I could on the subject. This book covers several aspects of falconry, such as the history and the raptors used in it, and moves on to many personal stories. This is NOT a "how-to" book. Bodio has delivered a wonderfully entertaining and quite creatively written book that I highly recommend to any aspiring or long-time falconer. You won't be disappointed!
    --Lauren

  2. Stephen Bodio is one of my favorite writers--definitely my favorite nature writer--and this books captures the essence of the ancient sport of falconry. This is not a manual; it's an essay that helps to explain why anyone would go through so much effort just to share in the privilege of hunting in partnership with a wild animal. (No other modern sport allows one to do this.)This is a book that can be read and enjoyed by anyone, falconer or not, but the falconer will appreciate some of the insights Bodio has--for instance, when he describes the infamous goshawk. I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn what falconry is, or who is seriously considering taking up hawks. It is fun, it is informative, and it will stay with you for a long time.

  3. Mr. Bodio has written an outstanding overview of modern falconry. He manages to convey what it is about falconry that makes falconers put up with the heartache of hunting with raptors. As a bonus, Mr. Bodio's writing is a joy to read. It is both funny and informative. This is definitely *not* a how-to book, but instead gives a good overview of what falconry is like, and what a prospective falconer can expect.

1 comments about Canary Breeding for Beginners - A Practical Guide to the Cult of Canary Breeding, Designed Specially for the Use of the Beginner in the Hobby..

  1. I wouldn't recommend this as a reference book, it is too outdated. Mine doesn't have a date but it is before refrigeration, so that tells you something. But it is highly of interest to the avid canary breeder as a collectible and to see how far we have come in the "cult" of canary breeding, as the book calls it....

3 comments about The Simple Guide to Bird Care & Training (Simple Guide to...).

  1. I absolutely love this book. I work with parrots on a full time basis in an all-bird store. This book is right on target for beginnner bird owners. What I like about it is that it is comprehensive. It breaks down the different types of birds and discusses their personality traits, size, life span, talking ability (not a definite in any bird, but always a plus, and every bird is different), whether a bird is ok for an apartment or a house, and of course, everything from health and grooming to training. I have not found a book yet that does as much comparing between the species and makes it easy for beginner birders. A must have for all beginners!!!

  2. This book is an up to date book providing a general overview of bird care and training. This book is good for the beginner who is considering a bird or has just acquired their first bird. It is reasonably priced and packed with lots of information. You'll need to move on to more specialized books about bird care and training after reading this, but this book is an excellent start!

  3. This is a great book. It has easy to read and understand information on the most popular pet birds. There are 19 species covered individually. It gives step by step advice on how to set up and mantain a happy home for you and your bird. It also contains color photographs on almost every page.

  1. Because I could not "thumb through" the book prior to purchasing it, it did not serve as a good birthday gift for my 93 year old mother with very poor eyesight. Pictures are better than words for her I did not feel that she was happy with our gift.

  2. Beginning birders intrigued by birds and their traits will welcome the introductory Guide To Backyard Birds, which packs in advice from how to feed them and arrange a yard for maximum attraction to employing regional charts to discern popular birders in the area, or locate Web sites that offer more details on wild birds. Bright color photos accompany tips on everything from how to behave when observing birds to what kinds of seed to buy.

2 comments about A Guide to a Naturally Healthy Bird: Nutrition, Feeding, and Natural Healing Methods for Parrots.

  1. No human can live on bread and water alone. Birds have similar dietary needs, and this book tells you how you can get optimum bird health using everyday materials from your kitchen. In this book you'll find nutrition info, as well as medicinal info and how common foods can prevent illness and give your bird a happy, healthy life.

This book will be a great present for your companion bird as well as you.

  2. Until a few years ago, all bird foods were developed off the poultry production model -- that is, made for birds who didn't live more than a few months and weren't expected to have any quality of life. If there are birds in your life and you love them, get this book and take it to heart.
