  1. For John Schlimm II, that cliche couldn't hold a more personal meaning. The avid autograph seeker, having amassed a collection of more than 1,000 signatures tried in vain...to find a "good book" on his hobby. So, in the summer of 1994 he began writing one. The book was written in such a manner...that readers are able to learn how to write to specific people...the school projects are written for every subject, every grade level.

5 comments about The Sports Address Book: A Collector's Guide to Free Autographs.

  1. I am really enjoying this book - it's a lot of fun to have the chance to write to my favorite sports personalities. It's nicely organized in alphabetical order and makes for an interesting guide. Nicely done!

  2. I purchased this book as a beginning collector of sports autographs. In no time, I received signed photos from Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr., Richard Petty, Jeff Gordon, Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky and Muhammad Ali. I'm still sending out a lot of requests and look forward to going to the mailbox every day! I'm really happy with the results of this book and would much rather have this guide to refer to as opposed to spending hours upon hours trying to piece this much information together myself. I think the author did a fantastic job and should be recognized for her hard work. Looking forward to future projects from this talented young lady!

  3. I bought the Sports Address book for my 14 year old son for the Holidays, and we were both greatly disppointed! I could have authored this book! 99% of the addresses are in care of teams, or in care of organizations! Anyone can find the address of a team! It must have taken this author less than 2 days to write this book! The title is deceiving! It should be titled, Sports Autographs-Care of Teams! We are trying to find a way to return this book!It was a waste of over thirty dollars. It was an insult to the true autograph collector! The author, if she had any decency, should buy this book back from us, and give it to a member of her family, as a Holiday present!

  4. All of the addresses are C/O a team or Association. You could spend 10 minutes online and get all of the addresses in this book. Very dissapointed!

  5. I purchased this book as a gift for a member of my family who primarily collects sports autographs. After receiving it, I looked through the pages and found that there are listings for so many favorites! We are really big racing fans and I was pleased to see so many addresses for drivers - this book will make a great gift for my cousin!

1 comments about History in Their Hands: A Book of Jewish Autographs.

  1. For those who collect Judaica autographs, or for anyone curious to see what the writings of famous Jewish people look like, this book is the only one of its kind to satisfy you. Virtually every Jewish leader in a dozen fields is represented, including Israel, Zionism, and Rabbinic leaders. I look forward to a follow-up book with more examples.

5 comments about The Official Autograph Collector Price Guide, 2nd Edition: Over 60,000 Values to Autographs in All Fields! (Official Autograph Collector Price Guide).

  1. This book is exactly what I've been looking for!!? It lists the values of names I couldn't find anywhere else, as well as displaying informative data on collecting!!

  2. This book was a huge disappointment. Sure, it lists prices for thousands of autographs, but the "facsimiles" section is a joke. I highly doubt anyone is losing sleep wondering if their "Peggy Moran", "Bill Withers" or "Marjorie Ann Kent" (who?) signatures are authentic or not, yet space is wasted with these names, while more famous, more collectable ones (Garland, Astaire, etc.) are left out. And to top it off, some of these examples are captioned with glaring typos: "Michael Cain", instead of "Caine", "Kristy MacNichols", instead of "MacNichol". And this guy's an expert?

  3. The book is great in showing the values of many famous people's autographs of pictures, letters, or just signatures on index cards. The only downfall of the book is that it doesn't have any sports athletes listed in the book.

  4. Hundreds of pages listing values. I would have liked more information on each auto. Also more inforamtive chapters. And more examples.

  5. This is the best autograph price guide available! I like it because it is published by the leading autograph entity in the world! Autograph Collector magazine is great, and the publishers have been putting out the magazine for over 12 years! No one has better access to current, up-to-date data than the publisher of this book.

5 comments about The Celebrity Address Directory & Autograph Collector's Guide 2001.

  1. Everyday when I come home from work, I feel a bit let down with my personal performance. It's a good thing Lee Ellis had the time, money, and energy to prepare this book...it's like it is geared just toward me. There's no way around the fact that I am dissatisfied with my dead-end job in a Baku fishmarket, but I can find an escape by writing to various celebrities and getting their autographs. After all, whatever they write on a used napkin is more valuable than my life--they are idolized in America and around the world, and with good reason. Possessing a piece of them is like possessing eternal happiness. They have succeeded where others have not, and our blind grovelling to them is well-deserved. When I got an autographed picture of that guy who plays Kenny Bania on SEINFELD, my life was complete. He has succeeded in life, and so has Lee Ellis. May it be Allah's will that Lee Ellis someday be considered among great writers like George F. Will, John Steinbeck, and of course Chaucer. He is truly a great man who has helped me feel like a success, and he can help you, too. Order the book--your first step toward happiness and fulfillment.

  2. I don't know about you, but I buy a book like "The Celebrity Address Directory" to save time and money. Sure, I could go on the Internet and find some of the addresses in this book but would it be worth it? I would spend many hours plus contend with the aggravation and frustration of the crashing of my computer and not being sure if I got a current address. That's why I say let the author do all the research. I sit back and let him put up with long hours and compiling the names and addresses. I can't go wrong buying this book. If I get a return to sender, I just notify the publisher and they research the address for me. They will even research a name that's not in the book.

  3. ...and rather misleading - the large quantity of addresses the author claims is due to the fact that a large number of people are "lumped" under a common address - for instance, all Olympic athletes, past and present, are given a generic address of the U.S. Olympic Committee, all members of congress are listed together, all members of a sports team are listed with one address, etc. Much of this "information" can be found for free on the Internet.

The book is also poorly organized when compared to others on the market - a straight alphabetical approach would be easier to use. I returned this one day after I bought it - I've found the books by Mark Allen Baker to be better.

  4. Using the "Celebrity Address Directory & Autograph Collector's Guide 2001" has been a thrill. I must say that even though there are some letters that come back my successes are so exciting that they completely outweigh the returns. I have been building a collection slowly and am enjoying my new hobby more than I ever imagined. I've done real well with football players. The presidents (living) I did real well except Ford, and I love the signed photos John Glenn sent and personalized one for each of my 2 kids. I don't mind personalized autographs because I'm not into it for money, I just like to frame and display them. Actors have been great; I have received some fantastic pictures with autographs but occasionally get the mass-produced facsimiles. Oh well what can you do. I prefer to send my own pictures since the ones I pick are usually a lot better than the ones they send. Some of my favorites include....Newman, Pacino, Duvall, DeNiro, Travolta, Jane Fonda, Sophia Loren, Mickey Rooney, Sarandon and too many to list.

  5. What could be better? This book has the best categories of celebrities to choose from, the best names with address to choose from and the best guarantee of any celebrity address book. I've been collecting autographs by mail for a long time and I'll stay with "The Celebrity Address Directory."
