2 comments about Gandhi: My Experiments with Truth.

  1. With incorrect pronunciations and clear lack of voice punctuations (possibly because the author is not a native speaker), this CD didn't make for a good listen. This might not count as Fredrick Davidson's most eloquent work. I felt the rhetoric was weak probably because of lack of emotions and empathy towards the sensitive and life altering episodes in the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Although "Gandhi" was pronounced correctly - I was disappointed.

  2. This abridged narration of M.K. Gandhi's book is read by an englishman who tries very hard to put on an Indian Accent. Why this effort was taken for a non-fictional work is unclear.

Many of the Indian words and phrases are clearly mispronounced. This work should have been read by someone with some understanding of India and indian terms.

The fake indian accent is rather obvious through-out the production. At times one might even be ammused by this englishmans antics with accents. Gandhi woud not have appreciated this work.

Several events in the book which is considered as required reading in Indian Schools have been dropped. While other less significant events have been included.

2 comments about Creating from the Spirit: Living Each Day As a Creative Act.

  1. If you are an artist who has turned to alcohol or drugs in your struggle with creativity, if you feel that being creativity requires you to be alienated and irresponsible, then this book is definitely for you. However, if you do not have any such problem, then half this book is for you. Wakefield has taken at least half the space in this work, or so it seems, to deal with the Dylan Thomases and the Ernest Hemingways of the artistic world who subscribe to the myth that an artist can not be at their best unless they are completely engulfed in misery. Wakefield, who himself had to deal with this tragic myth, shows how it is a total fallacy by contrasting these artists with others who are fulfilled, widely-accepted and seemingly content.

But this is not a critical work by any means. There is a very practical side to it as well. Wakefield draws upon the experiences of these fulfilled artists to get at the heart - or rather the spirit, as the title imples - of creativity. And not only artists, but people from all walks of life including clergy, atheletes, business executives and secretaries, who believe their lives are creative. And to Wakefield's credit, he steps out of the way and lets each of these tell their own personal story in their own words and reveal methods they use to unleash that mysterious well of energy residing deep inside each of us - our creativity. No doubt anyone trying to get in touch with their creative faculties will find this section of the work interesting to say the least and can regard it from that standpoint as a valuable resource

1 comments about The Rehnquist Choice (Chivers Sound Library).

  1. I just finished listening to this book, and all I can say is God bless John Dean! Yes, he was part-and-parcel of the whole Evil Empire that Nixon tried to construct, but he has turned his back on his wicked, wicked ways, and come clean about his part in elevating the monstrosity that is our current Chief Justice.

Rehnquist is an evil, racist, homophobic whack-job who shouldn't be allowed in public without restraints... much less allowed to wear that goofy robe with the stripes, and pass judgement about matters beyond his ken. This informative book shines the light of TRUTH on this insane man's history, and explains in detail how he LIED to get a lifetime job on our nation's highest Court, where he has endeavored to undermine the Constitution and YOUR civil rights for over 30 years.

Rafkin's reading is incomparable... his Nixon voice is flawless... just the right touches of evil and paranoia.

If you love your country, and want to know more about the right-wing nutjobs who are trying to misappropriate it, READ or LISTEN to this book!
