5 comments about Visualizing Muscles: A New Ecorché Approach to Surface Anatomy.
- I'm an artist and I needed to see exactly where certain muscles would be in different positions and this book is great for that. You can't always tell where a superficial muscle lies on the human form because there are other muscles underneath them causing more bumps/wrinkes/etc than you'd expect. So this book was a big help and I recommend it to any artist out there wanting to learn muscles!
- ...exactly the surface anatomy reference ive been searching for. as a 3d artist it is essential that i reproduce human figure in an accurate and believable way for this you need effective reference. this book has it in spades.
- This is easily one of the greatest anatomy for artists books I've found. It covers various landmarks and on the opposite page uses a unique way to visualize the underlying muscle structure of the same pose. A must have book for any Artist!
- This book is useful for artists such as painters and sculptors trying to accurately represent a muscular male body in different poses (like greek sculptures - Atlas, The Thinker, etc). Every page shows the model in a different position comparing the same pose in the "buff" with and without the painted muscles.
- This book is extremely useful for anyone trying to master the interplay of muscle as it affects surface form

2 comments about How to Draw Stupid and Other Essentials of Cartooning.
- Cheap, Quick, and Entertaining to Read
I saw this one at another Book Store and bought my copy that day. I've read many books on the subject and would say this goes there with McCloud's "Making Comics". If you are a novice, the books works for a crash coarse; if you read a lot of books on the subject it's a good review.
One artistic helpful hint was his small complaint on model sheets. Moreover, the book really shines in talking about the business of making comics.
The only down fall is the book is short and touches on everything you need to know, but The rest you'll have to find somewhere else.
- This book shows you the ins and outs of becoming a cartoon artist... I like the author drawing from past experiences to try and prove his points... Good stuff; Highly recommend this one for novice illustrators...

- this wonderful book is absolutely beautifully executed with the most gorgeous paintings. I am a painting book junkie and this is by far one of the top three books I own. I'd give it a 10 for information and beauty!

3 comments about The Magic Bottle (A BLAB! Storybook).
- The book has beautiful illustrations, which my son and I both loved. He also liked the story, although parts were definitely lost on him and the deeper meaning would only be understood by older kids or adults--as I think was probably intended. He spent forever looking at the pictures of the bad guy, the poisons, and the machines. It really captured his imagination and I'll look for more works by this illustrator.
The story dropped off at the end, which is my only complaint. It's not a literary device I'm fond of. Perhaps it's going to be a series and the story continues in the next book, although there wasn't any mention of whether that was the case.
- This book is a dark and mysterious children's book aimed towards adults. It is as whimsical as it is morbid, balancing a carefully crafted line between depressing and charming without ever faltering too far in either direction.
The art is strange and unfamiliar, but I say that as a high compliment- this is unlike any other art style I have encountered. There are seemingly endless layers of subtle little touches and textures added to the backgrounds. The characters are adorable and just a tad frightening, keeping with the duality of the book.
Overall, it is a very unique, endearing book that I cannot help but to recommend and try to share with other people.
- What a pleasure it was reading this book to all three of my children. They hung on every word of this conscientious tale while imagination filled their eyes and heart. A grand addition to any book collection.

5 comments about Realistic Pet Portraits in Colored Pencil.
- I bought this book with several others, and I just can't put it down. While it is true that some of the pictures are not photo-realistic, they are truly amazing. The author helps you with technique, and breaks down several aspects about animals that make drawing them difficult. I would have liked to know more about the whole body of the animal, but this isnt a drawing book, rather it is a technique book that covers the eyes, fur, feathers and to a lesser extent the expressions. She gives excellent advice on cat eyes to make them look liquid and translucent, and she breaks down some common mistakes. Overall an excellent book to own.
- I got some use from the book but it wasn't as helpful as others I've seen.
- I'm 41 and am renewing the love of drawing and sketching that I lost when I graduated from high school. I just didn't have time for art in my life, but when I finally picked up a pencil and paper a few months ago, I immediately fell in love with drawing again. A friend gave me a beautiful set of coloured pencils as a gift, which is one reason I purchased this book, and I'd be thrilled if I could ever produce a picture as nice as anything done by this author. Her drawings are just gorgeous, and the book is worth buying just to look at the pictures.
One thing I noticed is that the artist doesn't solely work with coloured pencils. In some images she uses gouache paints to draw whiskers, for example. It's a small thing, but worth noting if you hope to produce these images.
- This book would be less misleading if the "realistic" were left off of the title. The drawings are good illustrations, say for a children's book or the like. There's actually a couple included drawings that I had to wonder why they were included because they looked like good drawing for someone in highschool. Anyway, it may help if you really are just beginning to draw, but it was not what I had hoped for at all. If you want to see amazing colored pencil drawings and some interesting techniques, I would recommend the "Colored Pencil Solution Book" by Janie Gildow and Barbara Benedetti Newton.Colored Pencil Solution Book
- Lots of details about producing the appearance of details in animals. It is amazing what you can produce. I refer to this book a lot.

5 comments about Creative Advertising: Ideas and Techniques from the World's Best Campaigns.
- Finally, a way to beat your caffeine addiction! Creative Advertising. For aspiring and seasoned creatives alike, Creative Advertising is fuel for great ideas. The Kickstart Catalogue is an invaluable resource for getting the creative juices a'flowin. My work noticeably improved after reading this book. I could go on and on, but I don't want to waste your time. Instead of reading this, you should be reading this book. You will not be sorry.
- I expected this book would contain some cool ads and lots of boring text about advertising. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is actually full of awesome examples of ads, pretty much from cover to cover.
It also contains a good How To guide to help eliminate 'art directors block', based on methods used by the creators of the ads featured throughout this book.
A very good buy with lots of pages of 'wow'.
- When you first lay your hands on this book you will realize this book is something special with its elegant appearance. The book speaks directly to two audiences creatives and professionals on the acct mgt/client side. The author chooses over 20 different styles that an ad can use to effectively communicate.
For example before and after is a technique has been used countless times and requires diverse imagery that dramatizes the benefit to the consumer yet intrigues them to look at ad. This book has 7 full color ads and explanations that demonstrate how to effectively use this technique.
You will find the examples are from across the globe using brands from all verticals. Although you can pick up a lot from reading cover to cover, anyone can enjoy viewing the ads in this book as a critiquing exercise.
- Huge book. Lots of tips. Color photos. Interviews with the pros. An overall great guide to team creativity.
- This book has become one of my favorite books in my library. Extremely creative ideas and large, colorful photos. I am very pleased to have this book.

- Yes - another coloring book review by me, but necessary in regards to this one. I was excited to try this one out as I love geometric designs and was pleased at the price available from one of the sellers through Amazon. One I got it I decided to try a few out and was pleased with the results of my artwork...then I examined the book closer. I found that there were only 12 designs and four of each, thus making the 48 pages of the coloring book! I felt disappointed, even though I could easily vary each image with different colors and patterns. The paper was of better quality than many other coloring books so that was a plus. But I wish I had known that there were only 12 different designs as other reviewers didn't mention this nor in the description of the book. I do recommend using quality colored pencils in order to get the most of your work - you will be happier with what you produce if you do!
- This is a great coloring book for kids of all ages. It is creative, fun, and a great present if you don't know what the child already has or wants. Any child will enjoy coloring the cool designs in this book. I usually include a nice set of markers with it too.
- As an adult colorist, I find Burrow's books to be some of the best on the market. The designs can satisfy the meticulous detail person, while allowing the colorist to create their own designs using the grids supplied.
On the whole, a satisfying coloring book! Buy them all!
- My fourth grade daughter colors similar pictures in school and was so pleased to be able to do the same at home. She is amazed at the outcome of the images. Thank you.

- Complete the spaces in these wonderful pages and you will see images emerge that will truly amaze you. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the appearance before you contribute your personal magic to it! This is a super book that will entertain you for hours on end!
Copy the blank pages so you can complete them multiple times, perhaps incorporating them into other crafts projects or framing them for display. Specialize the colors you choose to coordinate with other home decor items!
Waaaay cool! You gotta love this!
- These designs are not as foolish as they first seem to be. I would not recomend using crayons or thick markers, but i would reccomend coloring every single page in this book! One of the best things about the book is that you don't have to wait for a copy machine: there's at least two of everything! So if you get a differant idea you can implement it immediately.
I'll admit first glance the pictures looked like a bunch of intersecting lines creating miniscule shapes, but not anymore. These are very cool and sharp designs that require an equally sharp pencil and mind. This is a book made for people 13 and up!
- I've loved these since I was a kid. Bought them for myself and my 7yr old sister. We've enjoyed coloring in them together.
- This would be a good book if you like to color the same patterns over and over. There are only 12 different designs that are repeated over the 40+ pages. Personally I would have liked a bit more variety.
- I ordered two of the Roger Burrows coloring books. They are very similar. Not much variety. The designs are repeated a couple of times in each book. I should have ordered just one.
