1 comments about Farmax.

  1. Once when I was a mere chocolate bar in my father's back-pockete, I gained an innate awareness of the existence of the Realm of the Impossible. It was a small room, the door was sticky, and the pungent odor of homemade mayonnaise was almost too much to bear. It was only due to my fierce will to survive that I was able to write three twenty dollar checks payable to your mother-in-law. She, horrendous creature that she is, waited three months before cashing the cheques, causing all three to bounce. I used my copy of Farmax to surf to California, and freedom. What a great book!

1 comments about Design Process: A Primer for Architectural and Interior Design (Architecture).

  1. I must say this is exactly the kind of book i've been looking for, since I entered architecture school I have been trying to find literature for a good design process applied to architecture. The book covers the architectural design process from start to finish with many helpfull insights into the various stages of the complex design process involved in building. In my opinion, it is a vaery complete book, not just talking about building aspects, but client relationships, cost concerns, while at the same time realizing the diference of the academic and work reality. A must buy in my opinion.

1 comments about Gyroscopic Horizons.

  1. Gyroscopic Horizons shows an indepth look into the process, motivation and presentational work from one of the most important young american architects currently practicing. For a first monograph, Denari's work is seamless offering a unique journey through the architect's portfolio and logic. Denari's book approaches a very important issue for understanding culture and technology. In 1987, renowned architectural critic and historian Kenneth Frampton (architecture, Columbia U) separated Neil Denari out among his peers as a more thoughtful designer. As Frampton predicted, Gyroscopic Horizons contains enormous insight and energy into this thoughtful architects work. Landmark First Monograph!

1 comments about Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel (Dover Books on Architecture).

  1. This book is about the Imperial hotel built by Frank Lloyd Wright in Tokyo during the Meiji era. It has been quite famous after the Kanto Big Earthquake in 1923 because it was not collapsed by the earthquake.

1 comments about Architectural Working Drawings, Fourth Edition.

  1. This book in it's fourth edition is better suited as a historical look at architectural drawings. It is strongly lacking in CAD production standards; some of the other standards and terminologies mentioned are outdated and do not reflect a concensus of how we professionals practice; a lot of the graphics used are poor quality and are difficult to read.

2 comments about Splash 5: Best of Watercolor : The Glory of Color (Serial).

  1. If you are looking for a Splash edition that has a smattering of everything; this is the one.

Cats up close, pears in a still life, cows, street scenes.

I know there must be some order to this book but I don't know what it is. And really it doesn't matter. The book is simply inspirational.

  2. This book is a celebration of color and the watercolor medium. Turning the pages is like watching a fabulous fireworks display. Each page reveals another explosion of beautiful color painting. Like fireworks, some paintings go off with a huge bang, and others are more muted; but each painting has something to say -- there are no "duds." Helpful comments by the artists give insight as to how and why each painting was done. If you're an artist looking for inspiration, this book can really give you a whack in the side of the head that will send you running to your paints. Even if you're not an artist, you'll enjoy the gorgeous colors and wide, wild variety of subjects and techniques. An astonishing book and well worth the price.
