1 comments about Key Contemporary Buildings: Plans, Sections and Elevations (with CD-ROM).
- Well worth adding to your Architectural library, a little more detail would be great
though.
Choice of buildings is really good too.

3 comments about Paint Along with Jerry Yarnell Volume Three - Painting Magic (Paint Along With Jerry Yarnell, Vol 3).
- I just got back from one of Jerry's workshops and am amazed at how much I feel that I learned. I bought this book at the workshop and it is excellent. It follows Jerry's method of step by step instructions with a photo of what the canvas should look like at each stage.
Jerry's workshop followed the same procedure except we could ask questions and get Jerry to help us over rough spots.
I've bought lot's of art books trying to find something that will help me. Jerry's books fill the bill perfectly! You can't go wrong with them.

- Excellent book! Very detailed step by step instructions for each painting right down to colors to mix and brushes to use. Highly recommended.
- This book is a welcome addition to the vast repository of teaching materials by Jerry Yarnell. The paintings are more intricate and challenging than in the previous two books. There are moody seas and skies, dramatic cliffs, serene settings, quaint buildings, and birds, elk and a variety of wildlife in the compositions. The step by step instructions are comprehensive, with excellent and detailed color photos of each step. Mr. Yarnell does a terrific job of reiterating and expanding on the fine art techniques that form the basis of all of his teaching material. If you are looking for an instructional painting book that is beyond the beginners level, then you should find this book inspirational, challenging and fun.

1 comments about Landscapes and Gardens for Historic Buildings: A Handbook for Reproducing and Creating Authentic Landscape Settings: A Handbook for Reproducing and Creating ... for State and Local History Book Series).
- This is an excellent starting point for the beginner. It builds a proper base in a very practical, hands on way. Favretti is a well-known expert in Southern historic garden circles. He's created historic landscapes himself and comes at his subject with a great deal of experience.

5 comments about Horse Stable and Riding Arena Design.
- This was my first choice when I started searching for books on horse stable design, I must say that it took me some months before I made the investment and bought the book. I was a bit disappointed when I finally received it, but then again maybe I was looking for an easy way out by looking for straight forward answers to my indecisions. The book is a scientific look into stable and arena design (facts with little emotion), everything is laid down before you all the possibilities but there is no suggestion on what might be a wiser solution. The arena design could be more extensive we all know that it needs a subbase, base and footing ... but what can help in getting it right...
Maybe I expected too much
This book's biggest set back is the price (for me anyway)
- Growing up on a farm, I knew some of the information contained in this book. However, it did a great job of explaining why things are done to make a barn both practical and successful. My family and I had many ideas of how we were to design our barn, but reading this book has allowed us to avoid several of what we now recognize as design pitfalls. With good explanations of each aspect of equine facilities (i.e. necessary facilities, additional facilities, designing techniques, etc.) and great pictorial content, my family and I were able to choose the designs which were perfect for us and our farm.
The only complaint I have about this book is that it disagreed with my original plans... and I was so hurt that someone found a flaw within my perfect self.
A job well done.
- This book should be ones first purchase. If it does not satisfy all questions then buy another book -but I doubt it will be necessary. I bought all the less expensive books first and wasted my money and valuable time....reading them. I eventually found this book...I wish I had bought ONLY this book. It is fantastic for architects, contractors and simpler folks wanting to design their own structure...anyone considering re-building or starting from scratch will find this is the book that will have saved you thousands of dollars and heartache and then some. No kidding, I second the opinion it is worth every penny. I bought a second copy as a gift for a friend.....I didn't dare loose my copy and besides the author really did deserve every penny for every copy sold on this lovely, lovely book.
- I really hesitated before I bought this book. I thought "how good could this POSSIBLY be for $150.00." All of my doubts were erased once I opened the cover. I am planning to build a large indoor arena with stable. Every single one of my questions were answered thoroughly and clearly in this book. Beyond that hundreds of details I had never even considered were brought to light in Eileen Wheelers book.
The detail of construction was extensive and comprehensive. This book is defenitely the Bible of stable and Arena Design!!!
- This book is worth every penny. Anyone wanting to build a great barn or arena should consider this book...especially appreciated the formulas and suggestions for figuring needs for heat, arena floor materials, lighting, etc. The author seemed to think of everything!

5 comments about Making Greeting Cards With Rubber Stamps.
- I am just getting started in the hobby of stamping and card making. This book was nice, but I have seen better. Maybe once I start doing more and become an avid card maker/stamper, I will appreciate this one more.
- I was thrilled with this book. I am a novice at rubber stamping and I wanted to make my own Christmas cards this year, so I bought Ms. McGraw's book hoping it would be what I needed. It is perfect for the beginner (and probably those who know some about stamping but want more ideas and information). The book is laid out in a format that is easy to follow and not overwhelming or confusing. It is written with specifics in mind. It offers plenty of options giving you room to stamp as fancy or as simple as you like. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves stamps!
- This is a great book for beginners and has excellent explanations and step by step instructions for the techniques involved.
The only thing that stopped me from giving this book 5 stars is that the designs in the book are a little dated looking, and the list at the end of the book of what stamps were used and where to buy them was not nearly complete and explicit enough.
- I've learned alot from this book. This was the first book I bought when I got into rubber stamping. I truly recommend this to anyone who really enjoys rubber stamping. The book comes with me when ever I travel. I bring it out alot when holidays and b-days come along for some ideas I can combine with a card to make.
- I'm new to stamping and am quite impressed with this book, as it provides enough information for beginners like myself to really understand how to do the techniques, and has also helped familiarize me with the stamping terminology.
My only criticism is that someone obviously goofed in putting the book together, as the first pages of the "Getting Started" and "Special Effects" chapters are reversed. I almost put the book back on the shelf at the store when I saw that, figuring the rest of the book would have problems like that as well. Fortunately, it's the only problem I've encountered... it's just a little disconcerting!

3 comments about Illustrated Dictionary of Architecture.
- I thought this would simply be a nice book to have (and of course the cover looks cool). It's got almost every architectural term I can think of, but the page layout is a little cluttered if not cramped & the paper they used is a little odd for any book (heavy and rough).
It would make an excellent gift for a perspective architecture student, but is really not necessary for professionals. Perhaps Burden could figure a way out to have the architectural dictionary work backwards (i.e. from the picture figure out what the term is).

- Ernest Burden's Illustrated Dictionary of Architecture is long on illustration, a commendable fact given that most conventional architectural dictionaries many times leave one guessing as to meanings even after repeated readings of definitions. If you're ever a bit fuzzy as to the difference between a spandrel and a pendentive, a spire and a pinnacle, Burden's 'point-and-shoot' approach and cross referenced entries may prove invaluable to clearing up such gray areas of the field's nomenclature.

1 comments about Reinventing the Skyscraper: A Vertical Theory of Urban Design.
- THis book is so amazing. I have read it cover to cover And several of my friends have borrowed it. I actually had to buy a second copy. Ken Yeang is an inventive architect who is a pioneer for sustainable design. The drawings and diagrams explain his theories and ideas from conception to detailed plans. The thought process it there and i think this is rare in an architectural book. Many others seem to guard there creative knowledge and Ken shares his brilliance.

3 comments about An Enterprise Architecture Development Framework: The Business Case, Best Practices and Strategic Planning for Building Your Enterprise Architecture.
- I needed a book to understand what Enterprise Architecture is, why it matters, what it looks like, and how strategy is applied in practice. I am a postgraduate student of Business and Economics with a knowledge of IT and I have a few assignments around the operations, strategy and restructuring of a firm.
I found that, while the book serves my purpose to a good degree, it also touches IT, business process development and many other aspects including people and politics, all knit together in a framework. While the book does not offer a case study, reading specific chapters such as strategy, business case, frameworks, relationship to other methods reveals valuable information to students, academics, business people etc since it offers a comprehensive view of enterprise architecture. Although too complex for me, I imagine that many others would find, like myself, the information they need, integrated and explained. I would give it top marks although sometimes it looked to me that work is still in progress.
- This book does not cover EA in any form or shape. The text, diagrams and content of the book seems so shallow that it appears that the whole book was written in just one night. The whole content of this book can be accomodated in 4-5 page article, but the author/designers have filled some 50 odd pages with lausy diagrams, and double spaced - bulletted text.
Book fails to connect with the real business reasons why EA at the first place(?). This was the first book which I read about EA, because this came first to my search results on Amazon. I did read lot of other books and papers following this purchase to have my opinon about this book confirmed - Absolutely disappointing book I ever bought!
- It is quite compensive, which nearly cover all of the EA's area.
If you are interesting in knowing the real business case and issue
i strongly recommend you read some chapter of this book.
