1 comments about French Touch, The.
- The book is a great resource for someone interested in building or renovating to create an authentic "french look". French architectural elements are categorized and many pictures of authentic elements are provided in the book. By using the book as a guide, one can choose authentic looking or actual reclaimed elements widely available as opposed to the garish alternatives on the market that are advertised as "the french look". Kudos to the author !!!

2 comments about Design Ideas for Flooring.
- There are so many options for flooring on the market today. Do I choose travertine, linoleum (looks great now), carpet, wood? This book helps you answer those questions. It focuses on discussing various floor options, the pros and cons and where the flooring would best be used. What's so great about it is the photographs are clear and showcase the floors. You do get some furnishings in many of the photos, but without a doubt, the floor is the star.
Not only does the book show options like ceramic and porcelain tile, it shows floors with various patterns and layouts of each material. The book not only talks about vinyl flooring, but it talks about various types of sheet vinyl flooring, how it's made and what to look for when buying. There is even a section on flooring in garage and basements and include ways to vent moisture away.
I highly recommend this book and bought two, one for myself and one for my mother.
- The book was in great condition and delivery time was exceptional. Received the book within three days, which I was not expecting. Deserves five stars.

4 comments about Babyspace Idea Book (Taunton Home Idea Books).
- There are some great ideas in this book that can be adapted to make a uniques space for your new addition. And the book offers some insights in how to make the transition from nursery to "big kid" room. Nice contemporary ideas that will help you to celebrate the individuality of your children without going overboard or getting into sickly-cutesy-sweet territory.
- I bought this book hoping to get a lot of ideas for a baby room. I was really disappointed to see that more than half of the book was devoted to toddler and children's room. The few baby rooms pictured were not really my style and I don't think there is anything that I will copy. Most were either too modern or too frilly.
If you are looking for toddler ideas or would like to design a baby room that will take your baby into childhood, this is probably a great resource. If you are looking for more traditional baby rooms I would suggest "Sunset Ideas for Great Baby Rooms" (also sold on Amazon).
- Not much text but that was well made up for with beautiful pictures. The rooms are really beautiful and except for a few weird ones (fabulous but not achievable for the average person) the rest of the styles were achievable and mostly unique.
- Here's what's included in the book:
Chapter 1 Nurseries (Starting with the Basics, Designing with Color, Choosing Decor, Creating Storage)
Chapter 2 Bedrooms for Toddlers (Themed Rooms, Multiuse bedrooms, Shared Rooms, Furnishings)
Chapter 3 Places to Play (Playrooms, Activity Zones, Storage & Organization)
Chapter 4 Around the House (Kitchen, Bathrooms, Family Spaces, Mudrooms)
There are lots of photos, ideas for room themes, and they are great for boys or girls.

1 comments about Lakeside Living: Waterfront Houses, Cottages, and Cabins of the Great Lakes.
- This book features many great pictures of homes on or near the Great Lakes. It covers several types of building styles and architectures. Every home looks like a sublime dream. One critique though is that most of the homes are of the spare-no-expense ultra wealthy variety. Even the cabins would be out-of-reach for most people.

5 comments about Cafe & Restaurant Design.
- In general this is an informative book of ideas IF you are planning on a very hi-tech / upper-class / expensive restaurant. Definately not for the small business entrepreneur wishing to gather ideas for a small intimate casual gathering place.
- This book is quite useful if you work in architecture/interior design or wanted to opened a restaurant. It brings you lots and lots of other cafe & restaurants architectural & interior designs which is absolutely stunning. Each photograph is amazing and makes you really wanted to visit those restaurant/cafe.
I actually hoping for more details from each cafe & restaurants in this book, because for each cafe/restaurants review they only provide about 3-5 images. It also provide a small information about each cafe & restaurants, and sometimes a small blueprint of the building's architecture.
Overall, it's a great book with not much information in it. Because just like what the title is, it contains 'cafe & reataurant design' ONLY.
- The latest edition to the outstanding Te Neues "Designpocket" series, Cafe & Restaurant Design is a compact, 399-page, superbly illustrated compendium of cafe and restaurant interior designs and layouts throughout Europe, America, and around the world. From Cafe Gioriette in Vienna, to the Plaza Athenee in Paris, to the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, to La Frustra in Rome, to the Lupino Lounge Restaurant in Barcelona, to the Berns Hotel in Stockholm, to Ini Ani Coffee Shop in New York, to Icebergs Dining Room & Bar in Sydney, to Moph in Tokyo, to La Scala in Bangkok, this series of pictorials is an impressive survey of the best and most innovative settings in which people gather to dine and socialize. Cafe & Restaurant Design is a particularly welcome and highly recommended addition to professional and academic Interior Design reference collections.
- ...that the error was mine. I ordered this along with a whole host of other books on the restaurant business. I didn't realize that it was a book of pictures. I thought it was that and some kind of description about what we were looking at. It's not. Only pictures.
I dropped it to 3 stars though because (while certainly interesting cases) most every business featured is an ultra-modern style. That, plus there are absolutely no case-by-case descriptions of what it is the authors found attractive or important about the designs. Christian Hunter Owner - Sevilla Restaurant, Santa Barbara California
- This book has lots of great pictures of various cafes and restaurants, hence the title. I bought it for ideas for my work and I loved flipping through the book when my brain needs some new ideas. If you are looking for how the architects came up w/ the solution or what kind of materials they use, you may not want this book. If all you are looking for is pictures, this is the book for you.

5 comments about Signage and Wayfinding Design: A Complete Guide to Creating Environmental Graphic Design Systems.
- This book contains EVERYTHING you need to know about environmental graphic design. Very well written and designed. Anyone interested in EGD would enjoy this book.
- I'm a graphic designer, and have recently been interested in environmental design. I bought this book a few weeks ago and have already gained a ton of information just by skimming through it. The process of creating environmental design is outlined, and everything from regulations to materials is outlined. Plenty of good images as well.
- Calori covers industrial design specs to graphic design to project management to rapid prototyping signs to materials to testing to final deployment. A great primer into wayfinding and signage design.
For the next update, it would be great to see more color photos. The full-color spread of third party signage examples contain a few serious design flaws. How about a critique of mediocre systems?
- It is a brilliant book. A must read for all practitioners of Environmental Graphic Design.
- 25 years ago John Follis published the last great book on environmental graphic design. This book is an update and improvement. The book starts with a clear and simple premise that underlies environmental graphics, a pyramid made of three parts (Graphics, hardware, information) The pyramid neatly divides the book into clear areas. Each section literally throws in the kitchen sink, with information on research, codes, guidelines and examples. Even more important are the picture examples. Many designers may come away disappointed if they are expecting a picture book, but the examples (A mix of B+W and color pictures) links closely to the text and lends weight to the content. This is a serious resource book for designers interested in reaching a higher level of design rigor.

5 comments about New Decorating Book (Better Homes & Gardens).
- This is the second interior decorating book that I have bought from Better Homes and Gardens. I have found it to be very colorful, helpful and just fun to browse through. I honestly recommend it to those of you who like to try new ideas for your home.
- Ironically, there is not much that is "new" in the "New Decorating Book." Anyone who is hoping to find inspiration or fresh ideas is better off buying the magazine or another book. After reading it, I felt as though I had been duped by the "All-New Edition" title.
- I have several editions of this book. This most recent one is the best yet. It shows inspirational photographs representing many different styles. It includes tips and insights on what makes that room "pop". A favorite section is when they show the same room done in a different way - love that flexibility! There are great chapters on stylish storage, small houses, and lighting. As a professional interior decorator, I take this book with me to appointments so I can show clients some up-to-date decorating ideas we can consider. If you are serious about decorating, you seriously need this book.
- I highly recommend this book! This is by far one of the best decorating books that I have purchased. Lots of iedeas in many decorating styles, all done with class.
- There are 72 pages added at the front, aimed for newlyweds, with chapters such as "your first home", "your first living room", etc. Then you will find the 432 pages from the BHG New Decorating Book copyrighted in 2003, which was and still is a nice book. But, if you already own the 2003 book, you probably wouldn't need to buy this "newlywed" New Decorating Book.
