- Donna Babylon has outdone herself with this one!
A TRUE step by step guide to beautiful and professional looking window dressings! I was amazed at the detail in the instructions! Everything is clearly explained in language that sewers and non-sewers alike can understand and follow. Donna makes no assumptions and gives fully detailed instructions for each project and includes professional tips for each treatment,as well. She included full a chapter on general instructions so that your finished product is a window dressing of quality. Nothing is left to chance as she not only gives you a list of the techniques and terms you need to know, she also gives you an exact list of the materials to gather. If that wasn't enough, the designs are stylish and very easily adaptable to one's own home. In addition, there are full color pictures of the finished designs, precise sketches of the process and also, sketches of alternatives to each design. What more can you ask? I'm using four different designs from this book in my own home. My materials range from poplin and printed cotton for the game room to silk and braided trims for the diningroom. I was quoted an estimate of $1800.00 to do the windows in my diningroom. I'm doing them for $300.00. The great thing about this book is that everything turns out exactly as you want. You can't miss with How to Dress a Naked Window! I'm saving a couple of windows in anticipation of Donna's next book. Well Done, Ms. Babylon
- I've had a difficult time finding instructions for window treatments I'd actually want to have in my home. Donna's selections are up-to-date, easy to accomplish and fun to do. I've been sewing for about 5 years, but was able to create very professional looking treatments for about a 1/4 of the cost you'd expect to pay in stores.
- After seeing Donna as a guest on the Discovery Channel's Interior Motives with Christopher Lowell, I just had to get her book. And true to what Christopher and Donna claimed, this book is excellent in describing, step-by-step, exactly how to make curtains, swags, etc. I am so pleased with the results. I just started sewing again after a ten year hiatus and was a little nervous, but my draperies look every bit as good as the professionals and I thank Donna for her efforts in putting her skills to print, simplfying the task and enabling me to overcome the fears of custom decorating the windows in my home myself. Because of Donna, I have a $600 look for only $200!

- This is a very cool book with modern ideas. I will reference it alot with my upcoming work with customers. Alot of bang for the buck
- While building our new home, i looked for a book that would cover most design aspects, and give me some professional decorating ideas. This book actually offered more than i ever expected. It is now my irreplaceable guide, covering a lot of subjects, from interior design (living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms) to terraces and lighting. I would recommend this book to home decoration enthusiasts and to design professionals.
- it is a well designed atlas...fullfills the demands of any one who wants to work in the field of furniture or who wants to design his own home perfectly....but i think it was gonna be better if this atlas focused on the styles much more .

5 comments about Bathing Spaces: Designs for Pampering Body and Soul.
- I had already reviewed a dozen or more books from the local library on bathroom designs, so I went into this one hopeful that it would have something fresh to offer.
The good news is, it doesn't have the dated looks of many of the older books that I reviewed from the library (primary-colored wallpaper, anyone?) and it does adhere to a mostly consistent minimalist, spa-like aesthetic.
The bad news is, though, there's nothing really adaptable about most of it -- minimalism by its nature means there isn't a whole lot there beyond the walls and the foundational pieces, and if the looks of this book's examples are to be believed, it appears to be necessary to buy very expensive high-end pieces (sinks, countertops, tubs, etc) to create the most tranquil spaces for bathing.
While sky's-the-limit spending would clearly make the job easier, I'm holding out for a book that shows me how to achieve that transcendent feeling on a more down-to-earth budget.
- I wish I could join in with the others in their accolades of this book, but to me it was completely useless. Perhaps it's just that the style of the bathrooms (mostly modern and minimalist) doesn't appeal to me. I didn't find one that looked like any bathroom I'd ever seen. In fact, most had a distinctive European look.
Pretty pictures, few words, and overall not one new idea did I cull from this book. Most definitely not worth my money.
- BATHING SPACES is a book to get new ideas for the private bathing place and space.
It shows different ways of bathing from traditional bathing rooms to bathes in big old houses and bahtign spaces in the naturre, with the inivitation to make available not the smallest but a larger room in the house. Their are bathes of silence, in bedrooms, designed with different materials - with wood and natural stone but also with frosted glass and stainless steel. Looking through all these inspring examples you can relax, look into the garden and get ideas for new sensual materials. There are not the typical furnitured bathrooms but real inspirations for a new feeling of bathing - quite inspiring.
- After doing extensive bathroom research for the past 9 months, I bought this book to see if any new ideas or images could inspire me to create a bathroom design for the University of Texas at Austin.
I was astounded at the sensitivity of the writing and the images chosen. I would definately recommend this book to every designer who works with residential and commercial spaces. The ideas presented should be omnipresent in every bathroom, no matter if it is an office bathroom or a private residential suite.
- This book is really wonderful. Some of the designs are not practical, but even so the book still serves as an inspiration. What I like best about it is the way Hanan encourages the reader to redefine their idea of a bathroom so it is not just a space for everyday tasks. I also like the way she incorporates ideas from many cultures. The photography is excellent. Even if you are not planning on designing a bathroom, this book is still fun to look at.

1 comments about Many Heads, Arms and Eyes: Origin, Meaning, and Form of Multiplicity in Indian Art (Studies in Asian Art and Archaeology, V. 20) (Studies in Asian Art and Archaeology, V. 20).
- A finely honed search for a textual prehistory of a visual convention: the multiplying arms and heads of many Indian images. Srinivasan finds evidence to suggest cosmogonic motivations in the origin and development of what she calls the multiplicity convention, and she weaves early textual sources and archaeological evidences from the northwest particularly effectively, if at times with a monothematic doggedness that misses some of the multiple layerings of the convention she analyses.

1 comments about Fabric.
- After I bought this book, I went home and read the whole thing. All my questions were answered, even ones I did not know I had. If you have ever wondered how felt is made or it's history, this is the book with all the answers. It covers synthetic as well as those natural fibers. It is full of wonderful insightful information about fabric and gorgeous enough to grace any coffee table.
