2 comments about Inside Asia (2 Volume Set).

  1. These two volumes represent both new world and old world Asia and how they a blend at present. The photographs are wonderful and the text suffices. You'll also see a few western influences utilized by some homeowners. It is a wonderful addition to my collection and these books are gorgeous to boot.

  2. What's really amazing about these books is the great selection of buildings and sites chosen. You will not only find luxurious hotels and homes, but temple ruins and old decaying houses, always with a great architectural taste.

Those are 2 beautifully presented books themselves, with a kind of satin hardcover.

I've seen "Inside Africa" as well and there's no doubt that are as surprising as these. I'll try to complete the collection.

1 comments about Interior Design Sourcebook: A Guide to Resources on the History and Practice of Interior Design (Design Reference Series) (Design Reference Series).

  1. Susan Lewis' sourcebook is a much-needed addition to the literature on Interior Design. She clearly summarizes each publication in the extended bibliography, giving the reader sufficient information to properly select texts for various research topics. As both an educator and architect, I have often referred to the sourcebook for course development and design reference. I highly recommend it. 1 comments about Resort Design: Planning, Architecture and Interiors.

  1. The book analyses the subjects at an amateur level and it is lacking in content. As a necessity of my doctoral dissertation I bought it and regret. The letter fonts are unnecessarily too big; according to me the real volume should be about 175 pages.Photographs and drawings(plan, etc.)are inadequate and print quality is not good.I was expecting a satisfying book.

1 comments about Hotels: International Design Portfolios.

  1. I scaned this book in a bookstore, and will be purchasing it not for its architectural content--I know little about that field, per se--but because it is filled with beautiful photographs--both exterior and interior--of fine, interesting hotels. Unlike some books with photos of hotels that I looked at, this one was spacious, well laid out, and pleasant to look at. I will be sending it as a gift to someone who is studying hotel management overseas, and does not read English well--as I said, I'm buying it for the photos.

1 comments about New Interiors: Inside 40 of the World's Most Spectacular Homes.

  1. This is a beautiful book of primarily European homes--some houses, lofts and apartments. I found it difficult to "run down" some of the most desirable products as they are not normally available in the US. The design work is of a very high caliber-so lift all the ideas you can use.

1 comments about Two Powers in Heaven: Early Rabbinic Reports About Christianity and Gnosticism.

  1. Publisher's info:

In this study of the rabbinic heretics who believed in Two Powers in Heaven, Alan Segal explores some relationships between rabbinic Judaism, Merkabah mysticism, and early Christianity. Two Powers in Heaven was a very early category of heresy. It was one of the basic categories by which the rabbis perceived the new phenomenon of Christianity and one of the central issues over which Judaism and Christianity separated. Segal reconstructs the development of the heresy through prudent dating of the stages of the rabbinic traditions. The basic heresy involved interpreting scripture to say that a principal angelic or hypostatic manifestation in heaven was equivalent to God. The earliest heretics believed in two complementary powers in heaven, while later heretics believed in two opposing powers in heaven. Segal stresses the importance of perceiving the relevance of rabbinic material for solving traditional problems of New Testament and gnostic scholarship, and at the same time maintains the necessity of reading those literatures for dating rabbinic material.

3 comments about The Complete Idiot's Guide to Decorating Your Home, Second Edition (2nd Edition).

  1. There is a lot of information in this book, but it does not go into depth about a lot of subjects. (Too many to mention here) I am not a novice, and a lot of information was either left out or not given. It is OK for just the basics, but the book to me is boring, especially with few photos (in the middle of the book) If I were going for the basics, I'd want a book that told me how many square feet a gallon of paint covered, or a roll of wallcovering covered. How about measuring for blinds, or draperies? If you would like a true how-to book try "Fabrique Technique" on fabric corrdination or "Use What You Have Decorating" on furniture placement. They're both informative and useful information that you can really use.

  2. I was a complete idiot for not reading the book's description more carefully before I bought it. Talking about decorating is OK, but you have to SHOW me something beautiful too. This is only HALF a decorating book, becauase it has no photos.

  3. I have zero talent in the decorting department. This book was great it showed me many different ways I could get the look I was looking for. If you are all thumbs when it comes to decorating and don't know where to start, yet you know you want a fresh new look this is the book for you.
