1. While cabins can be a year-round fascination, I have a fondness for log cabins in the winter. There is a secret place I like to visit when I want to escape for a weekend and watch movies in a very cozy setting. To own a cabin of my own would seem a dream, but for now it is a "rare" weekend reality.
   
   If you love log cabins, Mountain Style shows cabins with panoramic views, high ceilings and sophisticated designs. This is an eclectic mix of Modern, Arts & Crafts, rustic, country, high-tech and provincial styles.
   
   Mary Whitesides has worked with craft groups all over the world and helps to create original interiors for the Sundance resort. Some of the most beautiful pictures in this book are the natural surroundings like the waterfall or fields of flowers, mountain scenes and newly fallen snow. It is all so romantic. There is even an indoor pool and decorating ideas galore.
   
   After you read this book you may become very inspired and plan a weekend at a cabin. I'd love to live in a cabin, but that dream has yet to come true. Of course, somehow we'd have to figure out how to build a tower nearby. I love cabins and towers.
   
   This is the type of book for fireside reading while snuggled up with a down comforter.

There is also a complete resource guide of artisans, manufacturers, and designers which will prove invaluable for anyone seeking to create, modify, or re-design their own mountain home. Mountain Style is simply wonderful browsing.

1. A few inspiring photos. But many just seem dated now. Most of the advice is valid but only useful to design newbies. Worth checking out from the library but certainly not buying.



2. Well let me say I'm a huge fan of Bridges' work. Very recently, she was featured in the Nov. 2007 EBONY, which showed her furnished cottage house. From that article and this book Bridges makes it clear that color should be embraced when furnishing. I'm personally bored with clinical white rooms. So Bridges with her tasteful approach to color, use of classical pieces, contemporary sensibilities, and ethnic flair really attracted me to her style. I found out about her through her show on the FINE LIVING network. This book really just carries the ideas that she uses to help others on her show. She doesn't dictate you to buy this piece or that. She's like someone who coaches you to embrace different resources (such as flea markets, auctions, antique stores, and internet sites) and pick pieces that you can imagine still having ten year from now.
   Her whole approach to design is thinking in the long-term use of furniture and house accessories. She also reasonably tells readers that approaching your personal style takes time and that it's a process that is well worth the time you take to buy pieces that you'll appreciate years into the future. I'd recommend it for people who need encouragement when wanting to furnish their own space with the future in view.



3. I thought this was a great book. I saw it in the library and thought it looked interesting. So many of the ideas in Sheila Bridges' book are common sense, practical ideas that you don't need a celebutants wallet to afford. That's what I liked about the book.
   
   So many of the reviews of the book speak about Ms. Bridges of course, and indicate that she lives in Manhattan or Upper Manhattan. She lives in a beautiful apartment in Harlem. Yes, Harlem.

4. There are a lot of mixed reviews for this book, so I am hesitant to purchase it at this time, and I haven't yet read it, so will just give it *** because I like Sheila Bridges on TV. I checked my county library system onlne site and was able to order it to be delivered to my nearby branch library. I must confess to doing this a lot. I read customer reviews on Amazon, then request the book from the library.
   
   I do order books and other items from Amazon at various times during the year, so I don't feel like I am using them just for book reviews. : )



5. I really enjoyed this book! I found it very helpful to hear other people's stories about how their lives and their homes "grow together". The pictures were of rooms that I could easily see myself living in -- very "real", not too high-brow.
   
   I enjoyed thinking about how I'd design my own home, once I leave my studio-apartment-of-many-years, and get my long-dreamed of condo!

1. With soaring gas prices and heating costs, I wanted to find ways I can make my home more efficient and SAVE money, too. This book has lots of ideas and I am recommending it. It is useful and informative and easy to understand.



2. First of all Seo is hilarious. I love the tongue in cheek approach saving the ecosystem and looking great while doing it.
   
   On a serious note: This is a great book just on the level of helping you get organized about a renovation, clean-up or decoration project. It is full of great and easy ideas, presented in an entertaining way and well-organized. I am definitely not a hardcore eco-activist, but that's great thing about the book. Danny's suggestions are about doing things you were already going to do, but doing them right.



3. Danny Seo has the rare gift of making daunting tasks seem possible, even easy. This book has so many idea gems that have changed my life - inspiring me to make both small and major changes in how I interact with the environment and my immediate surroundings. I eagerly await his next book as I'm due for more inspiration.



4. Just as one of the implicit themes in this book is keeping everything well balanced, the book too, is well balanced. Mr. Seo manages to brew a richly roasted blend of humor, sensible ideas, updated recycling facts and most importantly, readability. As a person who has long struggled with ADD, a book that can keep my attention is a rare find. I was also surprised to discover that many things I was taught about recycling and the environment are simply no longer true. It certainly opened my eyes more and taught this old monkey some new tricks.



5. This book is full of useful tips on how to incorporate this lifestyle into your own home. Mr. Seo offers suggestions and tips that allow someone to bring eco-living into their life on a small scale or a larger scale depending on your desire. I tried out some of the suggestions with my family and they loved it!! It is a great start to turning my home into a stylish eco environment - on a budget no less! Thanks for the great ideas!
