1 comments about Introduction to Pro/Sheetmetal Wildfire 3.0.
- The Introduction to Pro/Sheetmetal Wildfire 3.0 is OK.
Not much more than Wildfire 2.0, 156 pages, a little on the expensive side.
For someone who never did ProE Sheetmetal, it would be OK.

1 comments about 101 of the World's Tallest Buildings.
- I am an avid architectural and skyscraper lover. I recommend this book to any skyscraper lover. I must admit that I have a small skyscraper book library, but I think this title is one of the inprint for most recently completed skyscrapers from around the world. Along with a section of buildings still under completion or just about to be completed. The photography throughout the book is superb with full-color photography with all the buildings included. A MUST HAVE!
I also recommend all the books in the "Tall Buildings" series from Images Publishing which includes: Sky-High Living, Tall Buildings of Asia and Australia and even the first edition to 101 called 100 of the Worlds Tallest Buildings. There will be another title that will be set released later in October entitled "Tall Buildings of Europe, Middle East and Africa"...Can't Wait for that one!

2 comments about Mastering AutoCAD 2005 and AutoCAD LT 2005.
- As a student in college we get autocad as a course.
I dediced to buy this book in order to go further and deeper into the subject.
This book is huge in size! George Omura offers guidance step by step, explaining most details; (i was pleased with the guidance, had little difficulties understanding even the more advanced topics)
This book is ideal for those wishing to get acquainted to autocad to a fairly advanced level. It offers a very thorough overall knowledge of autocad, suitable to the novice who just started out, climbing up the ladder. The books is composed in a similar way, explaining the basics in the beginning and gradually covering the more advanced topics. Important to mention, is the well organised appearance of the book, containing indexed words, allowing the reader to quickly look up topics by key-words!
For those wishing to go all the way, they probably will need to buy an extra book for advanced items such as advanced customisation and 3D but i am sure Omura can teach even some of the experts out there, as he clearly knows his thing.
It might be fair to say that i was a bit dissapointed to find not more covered about the 3D aspects of Autocad, but i realised later that Omura wrote a seperate book dedicated to explaining autocad's 3D abibilites in detail, which is understandable, knowing that this book alone is over 1000 pages!
I give this book 5 stars, finding the previous 3 stars given, a wrong representation of an excellent book.
- The book doesn't go deep into customizing AutoCAD, but gives a complete brief overview for general purpose AutoCAD usage.

1 comments about Gender Space Architecture: An Interdisciplinary Introduction (Architext Series).
- I am writing because in my opinion the editorial description of this book doesn't give readers a clear enough idea of what makes it different from all the other feminism and architecture anthologies currently on sale.
Part of the problem is that there now seem to be so many books with titles like "Gender and Space" etc. But don't be fooled - this really is the only book out there that tries to give an overview of the impact of feminism on architecture, gathering and reprinting seminal essays from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Aside from the convenience of having all of these important essays at hand in one volume, the book also provides readers with an excellent bibliography (almost 25 pages) of related books in the field. While the bibliography doesn't refer to absolutely everything, it is pretty comprehensive - and, if you're interested in further research, this gives you a good starting point. The introductions in this book though are perhaps its best feature - in particular, the introduction to "Gender Space Architecture" by Jane Rendell. When people want to know what feminism can do for architecture (or has done for architecture), I refer them to this essay. It's lucidly written and provides a great map to the subject. Particularly useful for students! If you're just starting out on this subject, this is the book for you.

5 comments about Mastering AutoCAD 2000.
- Some comments on this book are misleading.
After seeing many five stars comments on this book, I bought it as a tutorial. After reading this book and using the software for several weeks, I had not learned much. I decided to give up this book. My friend used this book for learning AutoCad, she also had to give up.Later I decided to buy another AutoCad book, called "AutoCad 2000 - One step at a time", to learn AutoCad.
- Mastering AutoCAD 2000 Premium Edition is the best AutoCAD book I have come across in my career. It contains enough and practical oriented tutorials with other helpful tips and time saving techniques that can really make you an AutoCAD guru. The accompany CD is superb. I have recommended the book to my friends and students. Kudos to George Omura!
- Probably one of the best computer manuals i have read, G. Omura has done a great job. The chapters are very well designed, taking you step by step without rush through the basics of autocad and the platform, then famialarizing you with some basic commands and components supported bt exercises, lateron while you buildup a project you learn more advanced commands and tricks, for me as a beginner i found grasping the material written which was alot very easy. the exercises are very useful, the CD is a great deal containing the mastering autocad 2000 instant reference guide and lots more, the figures are very well showen.
The book could use some "speed" though, some times you feel a bit "still" there is sometimes too much description for things which could seem too much basic. and the chapter on the 3D modeling and design could use some more work, i am planning to buy a specialized book for that purpose. but all in all i think if i was to choose i would buy this book again.
- Like the "Mastering Maya" book, this one gives just the same deep knowledge of the application. Mastering AutoCAD 2000 PE is simply the best book!
- I'm sure this is a good book but it was over my head. I am a beginner and I needed a real beginning book. I will keep this book for later when I am more experienced. But I did take the advice of the previous reviewer and purchased "Exercise Workbook for Beginning AutoCAD 2000" by Cheryl Shrock. Now I can handle this one. Not only was it easy to follow, but I emailed the author with questions and she actually emailed me back with answers. Amazing. When I finish the beginning workbook I will probably purchase the "Advanced" workbook also. Then I will return to George Omura's book.

4 comments about Planning and Urban Design Standards (Wiley Graphic Standards).
- product was sent in a timely manner with tracking information to follow the progress. Good work as always
- This book is tremendously broad in its coverage of planning topics, though not in depth. Most topics get only 2 pages, though some get 4-5. References are listed for each topic to help you find more detailed information. The book is well organized and indexed. It's loaded with illustrations such as graphs, diagrams, flow charts, line art, photographs, and maps. Most are black and white, but there are 16 color plates that are grouped together and stuck in a seemingly arbitrary position in the middle of an unrelated topic.
Some information is already out of date. For example, on page 580 it says that the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) expired in 2003 and Congress was still debating reauthorization. The new act (SAFETEA-LU) was enacted in August 2005 and is not mentioned.
My only real complaint is that the type is quite small and can be difficult to read for 40+ year-old readers. On the other hand, I understand that if they used larger type this huge, heavy book would be even bigger and heavier.
I also got the electronic, online version of the book and was disappointed in that, again because of the small type. Even using a 20" monitor I had a very hard time reading it. The viewer application that Amazon uses has very limited capability to zoom in on the text so it does not help.
- This is a mandatory book in an urban planner or college bookshelf, for it has all the necessary information to complete urban projects. It is my handbook and that says all. It is also very well presented with a hardcover in good leather. The only shortcoming that I see is the absence of folded pages with urban plans in a larger scale, or renderings of zoning plans.
- An excellent resource for anyone involved in public sector land-use planning. Contains great detail on many different subjects. Good illustrations throughout. Not the best resource for site planning, though.

2 comments about Structure and Architecture, Second Edition.
- This book describes the different types of structural elements in buildings (steel, wood, reinforced concrete) and how they are constructed for maximum efficiency. A lot of the book deals with spans and how the efficiency of materials must accomodate different spans and weights. The concepts were very well written and easy to understand (the appendices were a little bit more complex) with lots of examples. I would recommend this for anyone who would like to try framing a structure or who is interested in more than just the picture books of architecture and would actually like to know what's inside the walls and how those objects are functioning.
- Now in an updated and expanded second edition, Angus MacDonald's Structure & Architecture showcases the relationship between architecture and structural engineering using both historical and contemporary examples. This new edition is enhanced with an expanded and re-written chapter dealing with structural criticism and the relationship between structure and architectural style; as well as a new section on the relationships between architects, builders and engineers, and the influence which these relationships have on architectural styles and forms. Structure & Architecture is an invaluable and highly recommended addition to any personal, professional, or academic architectural studies collection.
