5 comments about Exercise Workbook for Beginning Autocad 2006: With 30-day Trial Version on Cd-rom (Exercise Workbook for Beginning AutoCAD).
- I went back to College at the age of 62. I am working on my Building Cons-
truction Degree. I was taking two CAD courses. But the book that was being
used was 2 1/2" thick, and weighed 4 lbs. It was extremely hard to follow
and hard to learn even basic commands from. Then I found Auto Cad Pocket
Referance, by Cheryl R. Shrock. I purchased that first, it helped me finish my two CAD courses. I then purchased Auto Cad Begining. I am using
this to hone and keep my Auto Cad skills up to date. I highly recommend
this and all other works by Cheryl R. Shrock. For being easy to use, and
learn from. If you want to learn a complicated process these are the books
to use. Because they make it simple. I give it 100 STARS.
- I GOT AN EXCELLENT SERVICE. THE BOOK ARRIVED ON TIME. PRETTY GOOD SERVICE.
- so i got this book for a class but it is so self-explanitory who needs a teacher!!!!!!!
this book is great and honestly...if u want to learn auto-cad this is the book to get!!!
- It is a book that is well made. The CD helps understand.
- This is one of the best books on AutoCad I have ever used.
I thought Acad was difficult but this book made it so easy.
And it doesn't have a lot of stuff to read. Short and to the point. And it has examples and exercises.
I bought the advanced book also. It is great too.
I suggest this book for anyone new to AutoCAD.
Trust me ....it's not hard after all.

1 comments about Blueprint Reading for Electricians.
- I am totally disappointed in this book. It would be alot easier to do a Goggle search of electrician symbols than to try and use this book. It is suppose to be for electricians but it lacks any foundation for the electrician. The main reason I dislike this book, it has no substance just electricial symbols, no explanations, no discussion of what the electrician needs to focus on, and the worst part, the graphics are small and not well done at all. Full of useless information, for example, I want to learn about electrical blueprints so they had to include door schedules,etc.etc. just fill material to sell a book.

1 comments about AutoCAD Database Connectivity (Autodesk's Programmer Series).
- The wide variety of topics covered in this book (dbConnect, database design [including the interview process, normalization and referential integrity], a SQL primer, ER diagramming, ADO [with VBA], and even some Visual Lisp using COM! ) is dizzying if you don't have some background in these. But the condensing job Scott has done is quite remarkable. My favorite chapter was "Designing AutoCAD/Database Applications". This was very well thought out and undogmatic in its approach. I wish it had been about 50 pages longer. This is a book written for someone with the following: -> Fair AutoCAD skills. -> Some relational DB background. -> Fair knowledge of VBA. My one criticism has to do with the acceleration of the pace toward the end of the book when all the Visual Lisp stuff gets thrown in. I have written huge, engineering/documentation automation systems in Visual Lisp but I still don't have the knowledge of COM as it relates to VL. I think these bits of code will cause a lot of glassy eyes. If you are a beginner to these topics, try the following books: -> a SAMS or equivalent "Teach Yourself VBA" type book. -> "Database Design for Mere Mortals" by Michael J. Hernandez (a very dogmatic but very approachable, EXCELLENT book). -> after learning VBA, an ADO book.
Bottom Line: "AutoCAD Database Connectivity" is an excellent book.

5 comments about American Dream Homes: Luxury Design : 50 New Glamour Homes.
- I will never be able to afford any of the homes in this book, and even if I could, I don't think I'd want something that big. Regardless, it is fun to look
- I bought this book to get ideas for a custom home we were building. I loved the full-page color photos, and found a few ideas I could incorporate in my new home, even though it is much smaller than these plans! I love Colonial, European, and Neo-classic styles, so there were only a few homes with touches of these styles (hence, only 4 stars), but I still found the book useful. For more classic, European style homes, I highly recommend "Villa Decor - Decidedly French and Italian Style" and "French Influences", both by Betty Lou Phillips.
- The photos in this book are not exclusive, as they can be found in many other books and magazines. It is certainly a better value than "dream home" magazines that usually sell for $7 a pop at the newstands, but it pales in comparison to "Dan Sater's Luxury Home Plans". Sater's book is better in just about every way... larger format, larger pictures, thicker paper, a better selection of homes in my opinion (not to mention a few identical ones), and a lower price.
You probably already know that the purpose of these books is to sell home plans. That's why they're so cheap. From a consumer standpoint, they're fun to browse through and you don't feel any buyer's remorse since you can easily spend more money at McDonald's.
If you're looking for a book to get valuable ideas for your next home or remodel, take a look at "Home by Design" by Sarah Susanka.
- I have bought house plan books before and normally only the first few are in full color and then the rest are black and white and don't show any interior photos. This book, however, has full color photos for every house plan featured. They show a few interior pictures for each, and it is by far the best house plan book I have found. Although, every plan in this book is quite large and you'd have to be a millionaire to be able to afford them.
- Ok,I just read...well skimmed through this book,I just looked at the pics of all the gorgeous houses. My house is custom designed and I wanted to see some other interesting designs.Well I certainly got alot of ideas for my next house,I personally think i'ts a brilliant book that anyone that is fascinated with wealth should read!
