1. very immportant issue indeed, but i would have thought that a more thorough text, with richer details on each project outlined will be more suitable. i mean this is't a fancy archi movement, it is an exploding concept, which deserved a more detailed book, each project leavs you so thirsty cause it wasn't covered enough and the aim of selecting them as examples of the title wasn't really clearly demonstrated, so at the end you are more woundering than satisfied. but why the 4 stars then? well, the outline, the fantastic photos, the projects themselves. i would really wish that the authors would come up with a part 2 or something.



2. I was disappointed with this book. It seems the author's desire for glossy photos overwhelmed the critical analysis and description of the passive technologies. Too often, I was enamoured with the photos, and left guessing about the method. The main subject of the book, eco-tech and high technology, are superficially described in the intro, and barely touched upon in the "case studies." Consequently this book becomes yet another photo-architecture book on the already overcrowded coffee table. This book does not do justice to the complexity of the passive systems used in the buildings it features and at best could serve as a pictoral supplement to other more descriptive texts.



3. although a few of the projects seem out of place, the layout,concise reviews and images are of the highest quality. foster,rogers and piano steal the show.there are some lesser known architects too, which give the book and the ''eco-tech'' movement a nice balance.splendid drawings by the architects as well, including a few early hand scetches.great book, great photography,great price.



4. well i'm so interest of this book because my concern in environmental design in my countri, but I an Indonesian, you know about my country crisis, we have lack of dollars, so if i can, i need a sinopsis of this book to arrange more well my country sistem susteainable architecture development. To be more help my brother with technology approach to serve their life and live...

1. ... but incorrectly states that the Amoco Building is the 2nd tallest building in Chicago. It certainly is not: Sears Tower, John Hancock Center and then Amoco -- in that order. And it'll soon drop down to 4th place after Trump's 92-story tower is completed.

1. This book really has some awesome examples of corporate designs in all contexts. The designs use some unique solutions, and the pictures are really quite comprehensive - the design is pretty well represented. Beware the sometimes humorous translations to English from Spanish! (The book is printed with text in both languages.)

2. This is an extraordinary book. Richard Bresnahan's life, and his pottery, reflect ancient traditions of Japanese pottery and Midwestern pragmatism. His arrival at St John's University where he establishes not only a new pottery but an inspiring lifestyle. This is the story of craftsmanship, spirituality, self-sufficiency and an environmentally alive way of life. The photos of the pottery are exquisite. The explanation of where the pottery fits into the tradition is informative. The story of the man - Bresnahan - and his passion for pottery is inspiring. You will learn about pottery in this book. More importantly you will be exposed to a way of living, a lifestyle of craft and an approach to the environment that is truly spiritual. I have been reading the sumptuous hard bound... but there is also a ... paperback version. This book would be an excellent gift book for any friend who is a potter or passionately involved with another craft. Bresnahan's life and work will inspire you to get out of the fast lane and find a more integrated way of living. You will return to this book over and over again. I have - and each time I learn something new, or some new insight breaks through the busy routines of family and work. The text is clear and to the point. The artfully done photos are a delight in themselves, with detailed captioning that describes the pottery piece, how it was fired and how it might fit into the ceramics tradition. A special thanks to the Afton Historical Society Press for putting out such a wonderful book.



3. I have NOT seen this book, but I saw the PBS special it is based on and that was 5 stars. I am in fact desperately looking for the video of it. Breshnahan is able to fuse his art, a sense of environmentalism, and a back to basics attitude to produce works of clay that are magnificent in of themselves, but the process behind making them is even more so. A great American artist.
