1. This is a good text for beginners and slight intermediate users of VHDL. The text specifies the Altera UP1 board (which was the board I used as I atttended my EE program). I discovered this text a little late...when I have graduated and am now using VHDL on the job for CPLD programming. It is a good text for familiarizing with VHDL constucts. Examples are very good compared to the Student Guide to VHDL by Peter Ashenden. If you wish to learn VHDL, My suggestions are to get this text and either of the following:

   VHDL for PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC by Kevin Skahill

   Digital Design and Modeling with VHDL by K.C. Chang

   With a solid background in digital logic, these text will provide you an excellent background in digital design. Good luck.

1. I have been using this book for two year as a reference. The know how explained in this book help me to think in the right way to get more harness of the software. I think that what I know about this subjet is a debt with Phillip Zimmerman. That's the reason for my recently purchase from you: his new book. It's simply necessary for every professional in this field.

3. Mr. Zimmerman babbles on and on while attempting to cover a technical aspect of the Softdesk software. He repeats words and sentences, provides vague explanations, and includes incorrect data as part of the examples and practice work. I give him one star for trying.

5. The author is good at telling WHAT Softdesk will do, but he fails miserably to explain HOW to do it. I gave up at page 80. His writing is tedious and cryptic. I learned nothing.

1. Orcad is up to something like Version 10.3
   
   Therfore I will not buy it



2. Mr. Krol provides a good tutorial overview of OrCad Capture without losing the reader in the detail of the software. Only a few times did the steps outlined in the text not work on my version of Capture (ver 7.2).

   This book is well worth the time.

5 comments about AutoLISP to Visual LISP: Design Solutions: Design Solutions for AutoCAD 2000 (Autodesk's Programmer Series).

1. This book is of zero educational value. You will not find it useful. Some scattered information without any reasonable relationship. It is a waste of time and money. I am not quite sure why they have decided to publish such a useless book. You cannot even use it as a reference.



2. This book finally brought Descriptive Geometry down to my level - beginner. I was amazed at how this book managed to explain the subject matter in a simple, straight forward way. And the illustrations are great! I took Descriptive Geometry several years ago and did not complete the course because I could not understand what the instructor or the other D.G. textbook (I don't remember the title) were talking about. Now, I wonder why the other book did not say, and illustrate, what this book covers so effortlessly.



3. I found this book to be a jumble of disconnected terms. After reading the first two chapters I thought the rest of the book can go nowhere but up. I was wrong. The rest of the book maintained its confusing presentations. Even the supplied disk was as confusing as the book. If your looking to get into LISP programming STAY AWAY from this book. I guess I will spend another 30 or 40 dollars and try another LISP programming book.



4. If you are looking for a book that will help you understand Visual Lisp - this is NOT it. Page after page of screen shots with a line or two of unhelpful text - you would be much better off just using AutoCAD help. Maybe the next book on VL will do more than scratch the surface.



5. This by far is the preeminent of its kind. The immeasurable amount of detail that the author covers, leaves no doubt in the readers mind that every facet has been covered. This book is truly a assertion that the author shows no evidence of diffidence. I highly advocate the purchase of this book!
