1. For those (like me) who thought that Gaudi was the penultimate Spanish architect (I placed Calatrava a close second), this book is an eye-opener. The work here is amazing and hopefully will lead to more being written about these somewhat unsung heroes, especially Lluis Doménech i Montaner.



2. unbelievably beautiful! the impact of the Art Nouveau movement known in spain as Modernismo, had great bearing on the look of barcelona as a modernizing city in the early 20th century. the book is also a sharp tour guide of some of the great architectural works of a city that is brimming with incredible examples of the decorative arts. if youve been/youre going to barcelona or love nouveau/deco design-this is a must have!



3. I've always been interested in Gaudi, but was not aware of the variety and breadth of work done by other Catalonian architects around the same time. I don't know why this work is not better known, but should be studied by all who are interested in the arts--sculptors, painters, designers, musicians, and of course architects.

   While it is hard not to just look at the pictures, the text is interesting (although at times dense). But I found that if I didn't get too mired down most of the essays were worthwhile, especially the one that related to art and painting. As a former art history student I was surprised by how impressed I was with many of the paintings in the book--from artists I hadn't heard of.

   All in all this is a very high quality book and would be a great gift for anyone you know with an interest in art, architecture, modernism, or Spanish culture. Highly recommended.

1. i am an architect and interior designer and i have found this book extremly useful interms of extraordinary elevations of the hospital buildings.i have specifacally purchased this book for the interiors of hospital's different sections and i found so many different themes to design with so many colorful images and views from different angle. it is resource book for designers.

1. I bought this book for decorating ideas, and it was really useful. But what I really love most about this book is the old pictures. It's got all these old bathroom ads of what what spiffy in bathroom design way back when. The pastels of the early years. Then the wild avocado green and tiger lily yellow. Outrageous!

1. Sixties is my favorite design style. For other lovers of this design, this book is very good!



2. What this book does is present a reasonable overview of sixties design in its entirety, from logos and products to posters and chairs. The text is fairly perfunctory but then again, I don't think people buy books of this kind for the words.
   
   After the novelty of drooling over groovy icons wears off though, you find yourself wondering what exactly was the point of this book. Many pretty pictures that tittilate you for a short period of time but nothing more. My disappointment may be partly due to the expectations that I had when bought it. I was looking for ideas for sixties interior design for my home and although there are some classic chairs in here and even the odd inspirational interior, ultimately there's nothing here that could be practically used.
   
   So basically what you have is just fluff. Enjoyable fluff though.



3. I love this book. If you like all things mod, space age and groovy, this book is for you. The author takes an all encompassing look at interior design, textiles, art, furniture, advertising and architecture. Crammed with cool pictures, the majority I had never seen. I also bought Op to Pop, which is also a fantastic book, but I think I like this one better because of its greater scope. I highly recommend this book for any retro-moderne afficiando. A great coffee table book.



4. Anyone who likes 60's stuff will like this book. From TV's to Sphere chairs, its got it all!



5. Stxties Design is an overview of the major trends that were focused upon in that decade. What it lacks in text is more than made up for by the wonderful photographs. Architecture, fashion, furniture and pop art examples are all vividly displayed. These pictures speak a thousand words.
