1. The opening salvo in what promises to be the new turf wars of design. Though limited to architecture and attendant arts, the battle royale will be enjoined in brand, package and product design -- commercial arts are now the true avant garde of design practice.
   
   I found Chapter 11 ("Sensory Schematics") to be the most engaging and practical, and have been using my own variation of the authors' "sensory slider" for years.
   
   My firm's invention of what we call NeuroDesignTM offers new and fruitful options for companies looking to capture, clarify and magnify the emotionally resonant components of their visual messaging.
   
   It is heartening to see, finally, serious effort being put into this arena by architects.

1. This book offers a critic evaluation of practices and philosophies about architecture. The author say that buildings doesn't get the planned objetives because of designing itself. The book presents a new way of doing architecture and presents an historical view of architecture like a social and cultural process.

1. It is a short but richly illustrated introduction into the history of Russian architecture. Russian architecture is an expression of dramatic historic struggle of Russian people for the preservation of their national identity and demonstration of the creative development of their Eastern Orthodox culture under the constant pressure of aliened Western culture during periodical waves of Russian modernization. Unfortunately, the dramatism of this struggle and strong capacities of Russian architecture for creative adoptation is not well described in the accompanied text. It is a very good but not exciting book.

1. In these combination of essays and photographs, Jorge Rigau, was able to give us a background of the reality of Puerto Rican architecture. When we think of Puerto Rican architecture, the images that comes to our minds is that of the old fortresses and walls of Old San Juan. However, in this insighful book the author present us with other aspects, sometimes forgotten, of the vernacular architecture of Puerto Rico. Looking at the nature of why buildings were constructed in certain ways in Ponce, Mayaguez, San German, etc. Also, it helps to explain the transformation of the Puerto Rican society from an economic (agrarian to industrial) and political (Spanish colony to US territory) perspective and how these influences resulted in an unique architectural style. Puerto Rico 1900 is a wonderful resource for those interested in knowing more about this issue.
