1 comments about Amercan Architects and Texts: A Computer-Aided Analysis of the Literature.
- Analyzing indeces may seem a boring task. However, Bonta has done much of the dirty work already for us. His painstaking analysis draws surprising conclusions about architects, their fame, society, and world history. I particularly enjoyed the way he tied world events to the results his data formulated. Architects, mathematicians, theorists, and many more should enjoy Bonta's masterful manipulation of index data to seek insight into the world of architecture in particular, and our world in general. One can't help but wonder what else Bonta may have been able to uncover if he had had an electronic database of indeces covering a wider spectrum of disciplines with which to work.

4 comments about Eco-Tech: Sustainable Architecture and High Technology.
- very immportant issue indeed, but i would have thought that a more thorough text, with richer details on each project outlined will be more suitable. i mean this is't a fancy archi movement, it is an exploding concept, which deserved a more detailed book, each project leavs you so thirsty cause it wasn't covered enough and the aim of selecting them as examples of the title wasn't really clearly demonstrated, so at the end you are more woundering than satisfied. but why the 4 stars then? well, the outline, the fantastic photos, the projects themselves. i would really wish that the authors would come up with a part 2 or something.
- I was disappointed with this book. It seems the author's desire for glossy photos overwhelmed the critical analysis and description of the passive technologies. Too often, I was enamoured with the photos, and left guessing about the method. The main subject of the book, eco-tech and high technology, are superficially described in the intro, and barely touched upon in the "case studies." Consequently this book becomes yet another photo-architecture book on the already overcrowded coffee table. This book does not do justice to the complexity of the passive systems used in the buildings it features and at best could serve as a pictoral supplement to other more descriptive texts.
- although a few of the projects seem out of place, the layout, concise reviews and images are of the highest quality. foster, rogers and piano steal the show.there are some lesser known architects too, which give the book and the ''eco-tech'' movement a nice balance.splendid drawings by the architects as well, including a few early hand scetches.great book, great photography, great price.
- well i'm so interest of this book because my concern in environmental design in my countri, but I an Indonesian, you know about my country crisis, we have lack of dollars, so if i can, i need a sinopsis of this book to arrange more well my country sistem susteainable architecture development. To be more help my brother with technology approach to serve their life and live...

4 comments about Moon Metro New York City (Moon Metro Series).
- Nice size to carry. Good information, however, difficult to find info without going to index. And one has to flip from one map to another. It almost assumes one knows where there are to begin with. But well organized if you already know a lot about NYC.
Not good for reading on a street corner.
- I decided to bring Moon Metro New York City with me on my first trip to the Big Apple. I couldn't have made a better decision! This guidebook never failed me once in my travels through the city. I loved how easy it was to read, the colorful pages, the insightful descriptions, and the pocketbook size. I'm going to make sure my next vacation will be a destination that Moon Metro covers! Avalon Travel Publishing and Moon Metro New York City deserve five stars.
- I've used lots of different travel guides in the past but have always been disappointed with something about them, so I usually end up bringing two or three books with me, which [stinks] big time. That's why I really like these Metro books. Small, chock full of info the I need, and easy to use. Besides the cool blue covers, what really makes them stand out is the foldout maps. I've used the SF and NYC Metros and regretted buying the Fodors and Let's Gos. Save yourself some luggage space, time, and money and pick up one of these books instead of a pile of the others.
- I've never written one of these reviews before, but after using Moon Metro: New York City on my last trip, I simply had to say how helpful it was. The maps were fantastic and made a city that was new to me incredibly accessible. My friends and I picked several restaurants and shops at random from the book and were never disappointed. The reviews were right on. I fell in love with New York and I can honestly say my experience would not have been the same without this guide.
