1 comments about Building Codes Illustrated for Healthcare Facilities: A Guide to Understanding the 2006 International Building Code (Building Codes Illustrated).
- This book contains very little healthcare specific code information. During my first round flipping through the book, I did not manage to notice any information on healthcare code issues. Upon further inspection, I did manage to find a few healthcare related items... but nothing even close to being useful - or worth the price of the book, for that matter.
This book seems to be simply a repackaging of the book "Building Codes Illustrated," by some of the same authors - which I own as well. The table of contents for both books are nearly identical. Non of the chapters have anything healthcare related in their titles. Most of the graphics appear to be straight out of "Building Codes Illustrated" as well. The index contains more references to subjects such as "brick expansion joints," "cripple studs," and "concrete piles" than it does to anything healthcare specific. Disappointing, to say the least.
If you are looking for industry specific code information, this is NOT your book. This is an unfortunate mislabeling/retitling.

5 comments about Code Check Plumbing: A Field Guide to the Plumbing Codes (Code Check).
- Excellent knowledge base for the DIY and pro. This series of books will show you everything you need to know to do it right the first time and pass those crucial inspections.
- When it was difficult to get to the library to view the Uniform Plumbing Code, I used this at home to study for an exam. I was rudely surprised when I got to the libary, compared the references to the code, and found that this guide was riddled with errors. It serves a purpose as it alerts the user to possible code issues, but you must check all references. The codes are expensive but not as expensive as counting on this guide might be.
- Code check has helped me immensely. I teach residential plumbing for a 150+ employee 1500+ homes a year Northern California company and have found that the info in C.C. is formatted in such a way that my apprentice plumbers can easily find info they need. They seldom need clarification. All codes cited are referenced with the UPC and IRC section numbers for easy look up.(IRC not used here in NorCal but nice for those who need it) Diagrams are simple and clear. C.C. is laminated and tough. Built for in the field use. I love this book. Holding back the fifth star due to spanish version unavailability.
- This has good diagrams, good descriptions, but is very basic. For the money you can find a better source.
- All jurisdictional and private industry inspectors including anyone who is a state licensed general and/or plumbing contractor, and of course, home owners who wish to know the codes regarding plumbing systems.
Or, "don't leave home without it!"

1 comments about Standard Handbook of Audio and Radio Engineering.
- Jerry Whitaker and Blair Benson have authored a "bible" for the audio engineer. I find myself often reading sections of the book that cover items I haven't used since college. It is also a very useful reference work for concepts and applications, and a great help in "refreshing" the memory. Worth every penny I paid for it.

1 comments about Design of Buildings and Bridges for Wind: A Practical Guide for ASCE-7 Standard Users and Designers of Special Structures.
- The book reads almost word for word like the ASCE7. The explanations of terms and methods used are verbatim of whats in the code - so if you're looking for better explanation of how to use the code or interperet the code - you're better off just buying the code and working your way thru it.
The examples in this book seem like they're geared toward someone writing a program rather than analysing a structure. (many tables and charts have been replaced by equations that can be programed into a spreadsheet). I got this book to help with the PE - but I'm not even going to take it with me to the exam.
just my opinion.

2 comments about Architectural Graphic Standards/Student Edition.
- I was displeased with the description of the item in relation to the final product i recieved.
- At less than $40 for a used copy, the Student Edition can't be beat, as it provides most of the essential information from the complete Graphic Standards. The information is organized along the lines of Masterspec with additional sections on Energy and Environmental Design and Historic Preservation. It is certainly enough to get you started. It is also important to have relevant code books. Ching's Building Codes Illustrated is a good place to start. It is nice to have so much building construction information consolidated into one book.
