3 comments about Noise Control Manual for Residential Buildings (Builder's Guide).
- This is an invaluable reference. I've been searching for weeks for materials related to noise control in a residential setting. I've found only one "expert" in the yellow pages and he charges hundreds for his advice. This book provides all of the information he provided and more. Although, the editing isn't great and there are typos and other errors, the content is first-rate. For once, this book was exactly what I expected.

5 comments about Graphic Standards Details: Openings.
- I was disappointed upon receiving this nearly $50 book. The format is small (I should have checked the dimension) and needless to say the details are small and not that great. In short its not worth the cost. I would only recommend it if you can get it used for around $20.
- Graphic Standards should quickly produce more titles in this series. The details are clearly drawn and extremely useful in this format. You get full-color photo examples and comprehensive technical data attached to each system (inlcuding plans, 3D diagrams, etc). A fair comparison would be with the German publication 'Details' which is published monthly (and in larger volumes as well); except this may be somewhat more relevant to architects in the U.S. because virtually all of the projects are in imperial units and in the States. A worthwhile addition to your library.
- This book is too small to be a coffee table book and the details too minimal to be of practical use. It looks like a 1/2 scale mock up of publication run. I kept looking for a missing disk or something that would make it usable. Is this a joke? Is there something missing from my order? I'm used to purchasing fairly expensive technical books but I found this book upsetting enough to take the time to write a review. The photos are nice but the quality of presentation and the depth of information does not justify the $47.00 price. It's really worth about $20.00. I should have done more homework on this book before spending the money.
- The book is small and the details very much smaller. I bought the book to help me detail a modern house addition and am extremely dissapointed. There are many pretty photos and the drawings associated with them are presentation drawings, not construction drawings. The book is of of little use to the architect and even less use to the layperson.
- Plenty of very interesting ideas for splendid buildings. drawings are well done and very useful.
However, I would have liked more of them especially about weather stripping since it is where opening usually fail.
Last, a larger format would have been very much appreciated.
At any rate, worth buying.

1 comments about McGowan/Interior Graphic Standards and Interior Graphic Standards CD-ROM Set.
- I already own AIA's Architectural Graphics Standards for Residential Construction, which is an excellent reference book for use in designing, planning, and building a new house or remodeling an existing one. Wanting more information for interior design of a house, I reviewed a copy of this book at the library. The book is primarily targeted to those persons doing interior design work on commercial projects. If you're looking for interior design help for a house, I would recommend buying AIA's Architectural Graphics Standards for Residential Construction to use as a reference and look for other books targeted specifically at residential interior design.

5 comments about Wireless Telecommunications Networking with ANSI-41.
- This is an update to the earlier book that was also excellent. The authors provide a very good baseline for how mobility works through IS-41D/ANSI-41C. It is a must have book for those in the wireless arena.
- I just read the authentication chapter, and I just left behind all my doubts about authentication. Anyway not just the Auth Chapter is excelent but the whole book.
- Highly recommended book for IS-41... the networking standard between AMPS, TDMA and CDMA switches, HLR and VLRs. I'm relieved there's a book out there which explains everything in layman's term, yet goes through enough details to give a great grasp of the important concepts of mobile networking.
The authors give a great background of mobile telecommunications, the making of the IS-41 standard, mobility management, call processing (and most of the important feature procesing), and SMS. Concepts like authentication and mobile roaming are covered quite well. The basic format of each section remains the same, so it's easy to follow. If you really want the details, like the IS-41 parameters, it's not in this book, but that's when you go to the actual standards document! Kudos to Michael Gallagher and Randall Snyder for an awesome book!
- Un excelente libro del protocolo IS-41, gradual en su presentación. No entra al detalle de los bytes. Mantiene un muy buen nivel, con claros ejemplos. He preparado un buen curso de este protocolo a partir de este y otros libros
- This is a great IS-41 book. It is very instructional(going over the IS-41 protcol) and also as a reference(to view call flows for different features). This is a must for anyone involved with IS-41.
