1 comments about Brookman Stamp Prices for Disney.

  1. Overall, nice. What keeps this item from receiving 5 stars are: 1. there are several (less than 5) mismatches between the descriptions and the corresponding pictures and 2) the guide uses the Brookman numbers when most folks know these stamps by the Scott numbers and 3) the prices are of course, frozen in time, current as of publish date.

On the plus: it's a complete dictionary by country, in chronological order, of every Disney stamp issued. All the stamps (complete sets), their souvenier sheets and variations are displayed and associated together. And lastly, the guide contains some discount coupons (probably long since expired).

I glad I have this guide - it's fun to peruse and helpful to use as reference material.

4 comments about A Life With Dogs.

  1. This heart-warming work is all a book of doggy stories should be!!! Sometimes I laughed, sometimes I cried, but was always moved to thought by his deep insights into the canine mind. His liberal philosophies and mystical religious tastes aside, this book should warm the soul of all who have ever owned a mutt.

  2. Having seldom been without a dog in our own lives, my husband and I were recalling the antics of many of our dogs from the book's beginning to end. This fun heartwarming book from a true dog lover, richly enhanced by the artwork of Linda Welsch, is one of those that is practically impossible to put down until it is finished. We have enjoyed Mr. Welsch's writings for many years and are very proud to add this book to our long shelf of other dog books.

  3. As the official representative of Richard Lee Anderson, Jr...[the California Whiskey Heeler of Page 211] AND recipient of Roger's forgiveness...I have to tell you, after reading this book you'll probably want to trade your cat in on a dog, head to your Humane Society for more dogs or adopt your first.
Dogs are good for your soul, Roger's books are great reading and Linda Welsch's illustrations are heart warming to behold.

  4. There are a lot of books on dogs out there. Some are worthless, some are truely useful and meaningful (like Suzanne Clothier's 'Bones Would Rain From The Sky').
This book is just completely enjoyable. You get a genuine feel for Mr. Welsch's love and regard for dogs, and for their love and regard for us. The frequency of laughs is no small benefit either.

  1. I really liked this book and thought the format and content were great. An interesting and enlightening guidebook for the motoring wanderer.

  2. This book falsely states that "Oak Harbor was founded in 1894 by Dutch emmigrants from Holland" This is incorect info. Oak Harbor was founded in 1851 by three men who took out Donation land claims, they were Ulrich Freund a Swiss man, Martin Taftson, a Norweigian and C. Sumner, a Yankee..They were followed by several Irish Pioneers, such as Capt. Edward Barrington, Frank McCrohan, Thomas Nunan, Maurice O'Leary, Samual and Thomas Maylor and L.P. Byrne. As well as numerous other Pioneers who were here in Oak Harbor where I live, about 40 years before any Dutch arrived..Oak Harbor is often reported as a "Dutch town" when this is not true history at all. These Irishmen and their families established the first stores, businesses, schools, and churches in Oak Harbor. This was started in the 1850's continuing through the 1890's.. The Dutch who arrived in 1894 came from the midwest to farm, hearing about the fine farm land offerred on Whidbey Island.
Oak Harbor is just as old as the town of Coupeville which is just across Penn Cove. The mentioned "windmill" at City Beach park in Oak Harbor is a recently built "pretend" not real windmill, which houses beach supplies and snacks for the near by swimming lagoon.
Not to be confused with a real old functional windmill. Oak Harbor celebated their centennial in the year 1951, when it was 100 years old. Other then this incorrect history of our town, Oak Harbor, I find the book very interesting and great photos.

2 comments about Vintage International Harvester Tractors: The Ultimate Tribute to International Harvester, Farmall, and McCormick-Deering Tractors (Town Square Books).

  1. Ralph Sanders does an excellent job of explaining the history of the Farmall from the invention of the reaper all the way to the Tenneco buyout of International Harvester. Excellent pictures, useful and historical text, and wonderful explainations of every tractor pictured. Pictured tractors have some of the best restorations that I have ever seen! A great book for anyone interested in the history of the Farmall line of tractors and International Harvester Company.

  2. This is the best book I've seen on the subject of International tractors. It has a good amount of detail of the history of the various companies and an excellent mix of old and new photos.

1 comments about American Farm Collectibles: Identification and Price Guide, 2nd Edition.

  1. American Farm Collectibles: Identification And Price Guide is a catalog of classic mementos of the bygone era of American farm life, including tools, antique tractors, toys and sleds, kitchen utensils, gardening items, turn-of-the-century ads, and much more. Black-and-white photographs fill almost every page other than the 32 pages of color photos, and the text offers straightforward item descriptions, current prices, and advice for finding collectibles and antiques. A superb resource for the dedicated enthusiast, and fun just to page through for the memories and nostalgia.
