Stealing Books-A Bookscout's Guide To Book Collecting

Chapter 8 - A Day In The Life Of A Bookscout (continued)

9:12am: Leaving Enterprise Library. They only charged me 10 cents for the Hatha Yoga book which is cool.

9:30am: The GPS keeps pointing me back to the Enterprise Library which I have already been to. I follow the route line on the GPS map which brings me to Plaza Books at 7380 South Eastern Ave. They are not open yet, and the sign says they will open at 10am. I am still learning how to use this GPS as I just got it for Christmas. I figure out that we actually started at the end of the route, and are now going backwards, which is confusing the GPS. We decide to make our way back to the intended first stop of the route, and start from there. Hopefully by the time we get through the route, the used book store will be open.

9:45am: I am at the Spring Valley Library at 4280 Jones. This library doesn't have a dedicated room, but consists of some carts and bookcases out in the open. The books are separated roughly into fiction and non-fiction. There are quite a few large print books which if I were local, I would probably buy, or at least research. The prices at the library sales here are pocket size paperbacks for 25 cents, library discards for fifty cents, children's books fifty cents, audio books for fifty cents, donated books, CDs, VHS for a dollar, and DVDs for two dollars.

9:56am: Leaving the Spring Valley Library to get back on the road. Nothing really jumped out at me as far as bargains good enough that I want drag them across country on an airplane.

10:05am: I am at The Bookshop at 8665 West Flamingo Road. Helen is waiting in the car. It is primarily a paperback exchange type bookstore. They have no sports books at all. They have some hard covers, mostly newer stuff, but nothing exceptional.

10:19am: We were looking for Personalized Books And More. Going by the address, it appears to be inside of a gated community. So I assume that is an online book store run out of a home.

10:30am: We are at the Sahara West Library. I headed to the bookstore, and Helen came in to use the restroom. They have one little cart of ex-library books outside the door. There is a little room in the back. They are organized really well into different categories. The fiction is for the mort part sorted by author. I found a retail hard cover of John Grisham's The Firm which I examined hoping to find a first edition, but it turned out to be a fifth printing. I examined a copy of The Bridges Of Madison County on the off chance it was a first printing...it wasn't. I did buy a copy of I Feel Great And You Will Too by Pat Croce. I previously found this book listed online and by the description, it sounded like it might have some martial arts references in it. I had considered buying a copy of it online, but decided to wait. I couldn't pass it up today.
