Protecting your books

You can get dust jacket covers from library supply stores such as Demco or Gaylord. Generally the 10 inch dust jackets will work for most books. Larger books, those bigger than a standard hardcover novel, may require the next size up. So having a small quantity of the larger size dust jacket covers on hand is nice. But generally you will get the 10 inch ones, they'll fit most of you books. Usually what I'll do is buy a case of 500 of the 10 inch, and a case of 100 of the next size. These will last me for
When storing hardcover books in boxes, you want to store them laying flat. Be sure not to stack them too high. I like use the type of boxes that printer paper comes packed in. I can fit two stacks of hard cover books in one of these. I place them so that each stack is against the end of the box, with the spine facing inward. I then can fit a plastic bag filled with crumpled newspaper or other padding material down between the two stacks to prevent them from shifting around much.
